Julie Swieca/The Score

WSCR 670 AM ("The Score" in Chicago)'s very own Julie Swieca was always
a decent sports news announcer who did
updates between segments. In recent times, her role has expanded to co-
hosting and hosting her own sports talk shows.
Ugh....I find her to be extremely irritating. Like listening to chatty
Kathie Lee Gifford doing sports (nails on a chalkboard type
of annoying). And Swieca's bizarre laugh...which sounds like a cross
between a hiccup and a cough....grrr...I'm sure she's a
nice person bud god she is so annoying.

Still, even on her worst day, she's not half as bad as the Score's
resident buffoon, Mike North...who obviously has naked
pictures of Gleason and all the execs at WSCR and XRT to have stayed on
that radio station for as long as he has. What is it
that the Score bosses see in Mike North??? And what will it take for
managment to get rid of him and replace him with a
quality show? The guy's a bigoted jerk, a loudmouth..and nevermind,
every derogotory adjective to describe him has been
used ad nauseum in past newsgroups, so I'll just stop the rant right
there. I will say this: I was surprised to find out that the
Score had fired Dan McNeil. Not so much that I think he's a great
talent (in fact, I think he had very little of it)...it's just that if
you would have told me that the Score fired one of it's hosts, I would
have thought that it would have been North.

At least the Score still has that bright spot on the station: Boers &
Bernstein...who won the award for "best sports talks show in
chicago." Oh yeah, and Mike North won the award for...oh wait....he
didn't win a single thing...

Very simple, whether you like North or not he brings in the ratings, which
brings
in the $, which keeps management very happy!

I don't think he was fired, it seems as though he didn't really want to be
there any longer.
BTW: Isn't it ironic that McNeil complained for so many years about the
Score's poor nighttime signal and after they finally move to 670, he leaves?

It is pretty obvious why they keep North on. He probably attracts the most
ratings of any of the shows. Usually it is the drive time programs that
attract the
most listeners. Evidently that is not what is happening on WSCR.

Really? What ratings? SCR never had, doesn't have ratings.

If you mean he has the station's highest rating, let me paraphrase North:
Having SCR's best ratings is like being summer school validictorian.

It is all a matter of opinion, but IMO, Boers and Bernstein is SO much more
funny, interesting and (especially) intelligent than the Boers/McNeil show.

Breaking up those two small-minded "I mistrust anyone who isn't just like me"
jokers has allowed Boers to become a decent radio personality by forcing him to
actually think about what he's saying instead of having every dumb utterance
immediately ratified by McNeil..

You see how stations are fighting to sign McNeil up? There's a reason for
that.
