Linda Maclennan - CBS: A pretty face, and a du that has the city gazing. She just had
another child so my friends this babe is definitely taken. Anyone who watches her do her
thing on the air cannot help but notice her face, shown off so incredibly by her "Aniston
wannabe" hairstyle. A real looker indeed. She seems to have a great deal of personality
and can deliver a good newscast with the best of them. One thing I have noticed about
her over time is she tends to change the color of her eyes with contacts depending on the
outfit she is wearing. One more reason to keep an eye on the hottest babe on any of the
weekly ten o'clock newscasts.
Joan Esposito - NBC: If you are looking for beauty backed up with a lot of brains, look
no further than channel 5's main squeeze. She is more than an anchorwoman, she is
involved with many Chicago charities and heads several prominent community
organizations. She has won numerous awards for her work, something not many other
babes in the city can brag about. She is a phenomenal dresser and always looks great in
front of the camera. Yeah I know all about the scandal she went through a couple of
years ago with her husbands suicide rumored to be 'cause he found out that Joan's baby
was fathered by a Bull's player.....all of it false. This beauty not only managed to weather
that storm, but she is also raising a child alone, and has single handedly rebuilt her image
that was almost destroyed just two short years ago. All in all, a true woman in the real
sense. I have read in some columns that Joan has been seen dating some higher-ups in the
Chicago business world. But for now atleast, any guy who can get this babe, more power
to him.
Alison Rosati - NBC: I used to love waking up in the morning to Alison. Her smile and
humor got my day going. Too bad they moved her to the afternoon, I guess she left her
humor and most of her looks behind. Though she is a cutie and demands to be seen on
the air more, she does need to get rid of that hairdu and should have never gotten it cut
short. She was breathtaking with long hair, much more so than with the short stuff that in
many ways, looks like a wig! Nonetheless she is still sweet Ali and is a charm to enjoy.
Obviously, we've had to endure her go through some pregnancies on the air, so this babe
is definitely taken by a wealthy suburban dentist I hear. Maybe that's why she has such a
nice smile!
Robin Mead - NBC: Alison Rosati's replacement in the morning, Robin is new on the
scene, and it shows. She is a babe with what appears to be a awesome body behind the
business attire, but she needs more life and animation. She needs to lighten up, stop
relying on the TelePrompTer so much, and do more with her hair. Try wearing it back
Robin? Definitely a pretender to Ali's throne, but give her time.....I know she will
improve. She only can.
Cheryl Burton - ABC: Not bad, not bad at all. She's got a look of sophistication and
beauty that is awe inspiring and could lead the average guy to salivate. But in ends there
my friends. She is simply a stock anchorwoman, probably fresh from college, who is
there to read and leave. Lord knows if she harbors any intelligence outside the newsroom.
But a babe, so we must comment only on her looks, and they are fabulous. Perhaps if she
got more air time during the week instead of the weekends she would become more
mainstream and personal, and not remain a late night, weekend thrill to gaze at. Perhaps
a career change, huh Cheryl? Say......modeling?
Susan Rico - ABC: Cindy Crawford and Carol Marin morphed into the same body. Not to
much to say about this major babe except that I suppose she opted for journalism 'cause
halfway through college she realized that if she was to become model she would have to
lose 50 pounds, grow five more inches, and get her breasts enlarged. Everytime I see her
report on a serious issue with a gleam in her eye, I wait patiently for her to give a line
pushing some brand of lipstick or run her fingers through her luscious hair saying how
much she loves her shampoo! A babe indeed, but not much of a serious journalist.
Allison Payne- WGN: She is the most gorgeous of the ladies on the TV in Chicago. By
far the prettiest African-American anchorwoman around. Just breathtaking to look at.
What can I say? Allison has me in pain! She is not your average airhead anchorwoman,
she does have some presence of intelligence and class that is second to none. Not one to
be passive on the newscast, she loves to comment on stories, and crack a joke every now
and then. Definitely, the most awesome eyes around that can capture you. Man I tell you!
From the looks of the nice rock on her finger I would tend to think she is married, but so
far I don't know who the hubby is. I do know that for a while in 1991-92 she was rumored
to be dating former Chicago Bull, Craig Hodges.
Jackie Bange- WGN: Although I'm not to sure if Jackie is still with WGN, (I haven't seen
her in weeks) while she was there, this babe filled the shoes of the stereotypical, bubble-
headed bleach blonde like Dorothy in her slippers! First of all, it is hard to get past her
name. Usually the TV world is where people change their names to better suit the
audience and avoid detractions. I guess she and the studio thought they could get away
with "Bange". Not that it bothered me too much, trust me she has more faults than just a
sexually enticing name, but come on, in a business where looks and style are fine tuned
to avoid any flaws in the anchors, do you honestly think a hot blonde with a last name of
"Bange" could make people think she is serious about a plane crash? I just want to know
how she got hired? Perhaps it was the big "Bange" theory! I will give her credit though,
she did add some spice to the lame WGN morning show and was full of life and humor.
But if she wants to be taken seriously and not regarded as a pin-up doll who got the big
break on TV, she must either get married or use another last name. If not she will be
hopelessly trapped by it.........but she is still hot as hell!
Marianne Murciano - FOX: She is a fox indeed. Mercy! But her looks are her strongest
attribute. You can't tell me an anchorwoman who sits opposite of Bob Serot in the
morning can be taken seriously at anything! If not for her face and body, which isn't that
bad except for her flat chest, she would be a beat reporter, not an anchorwoman, and I'm
sure she knows it. So unprofessional is she that it is a wonder that FOX ever let her
through the door. I know, she is suppose to be funny and whimsical to counter Serot, but
I can tell from her demeanor that this is not what she wants to be. Instead she wants to be
taken seriously as a journalist and get a spot anchoring the evening news. Too bad for
Marianne that she has to fake it and is stuck with Serot. Who knows, she could have been
the next Joan? Instead she is just another funny babe who makes all men wish they put
that ring on her finger.
Amy Stone - SportsChannel: What a dream! A babe who is irresistibly gorgeous and can
discuss the Bulls, Bears, and Hawks in great detail! If not for Allison Payne, Amy is right
up there at the top for best babe to stare at on the tube. She is definitely the better
alternative to Peggy, huh fellas? SC finally wised up and decided to utilize this babe by
giving her more stories to cover and moving her to co-anchor of the SportsChannel
Report. Great move guys, I never thought a wrap up of a Bulls game could be so
pleasant! But all good things must have a bad side. I've seen the nice diamond on her
finger. She is engaged I hear.....to a member of a Chicago sports team?! Figures. Those
athletes get all the babes.
Casey Curry - CLTV: Casey is new to the Chicago news scene. She came to CLTV a
couple of months ago from Abilene, Texas. I am so glad she opted to come to Chicago.
This beauty is the most adorable blonde on the air, and an actual intelligent weather lady
to boot. By far the best looking weather lady in the area, definitely better looking than
Roberta and her mole. She has a terrific body, thank God we can see it all from the head
to the knee, and a drop dead gorgeous face. She definitely needs more time in front of the
camera rather than brief 1-2 minute spurts. But hey, we'll take what we can get. Although
not as into the weather as the men, she is much more pleasant to look at. This is one lady
who can brighten up anyone's day. From what I can tell by the lack of a rings on her
fingers, I guess she is up for grabs. But beware, in recent weeks I have seen her with a
ring on........and without one. You must love to tease us Casey!
Angela Miles - CLTV: Perhaps the dark horse of the whole bunch is Angie. She is doll,
but relatively unknown to most in the area 'cause of her rarely watched network. A
serious yet personable anchorwoman. The good thing is she is always alone so there is no
annoying co-anchor to take the light off her. A real babe that you just want to have in
your living room anytime of the day. To me, she is the only anchor worth watching on
CLTV. All the qualities of a good anchorwoman are there: true emotion, looks, style,
familiarity with the area, and an extraordinary smile. Sort of a cross between Cheryl
Burton and Linda Maclennan. Check her out, you'll be glad you did.
Well this is my take on the babes of the tube. If you have any comments or would like to
point out a babe I missed, drop me a line. Thanks.
Yep, that's why there are so many competent older female news anchors
on TV today!
Face it, TV news is filled with young beautiful women because that's
what the majority of people want to watch. Unfortunately a competent
woman who is older or not *really* attractive is doomed as far as
TV news is concerned.
BTW, I don't think most of the talking heads on TV would be considered
*journalists* by most real journalists.
(to the original poster - I agree with you about Amy Stone, but she is
already married. You can listen to her with Steve and Bruce on
WMVP-AM 1000 in the mornings).

she certainly projects a somewhat polished and likeable image but i get
the feeling that the way that she comes across on tv is not the way she
is if you actually met her and she wasn't putting on an act.
i guess i'm used to looking at maclennan because she doesn't evoke much
from me one way or the other - especially since she got her hair cut;
i assumed that she wanted to make herself look older [i.e. more
"professional" and diane sawyer-ish, &c]...

i find it hard to believe that her ex-husband committed suicide just based
on a few rumors - there are so many prenatal tests that can be done to
establish paternity in such cases. now that you mention it, though, i'm
curious, why *did* her husband kill himself? it can't be that her cooking
was that bad because they were knocking down enough dineros to eat out in
that case.

i must have missed something, i didn't know that her reputation *was*
destroyed over this. i am aware that she had a negotiated a new contract
about this time and took a significant cut in pay [which she apparantly
blamed on a radio announcer for making jokes about her personal situation]
but other people, including carol marin, were getting pay cuts too.

i used to see her on weekend newscasts. at the time, she looked like a

her. however, the last time i saw her i thought that she was overdoing
it with the makeup.

given some of your generosity with some of the other female anchors it's
hard to understand your comments here. first of all, she doesn't look
like someone "fresh out of college" to me, and when she is not a weekend
or replacement anchor she's a field reporter - i've seen her several
times; and not doing "fluff" pieces such as janet davies does.
btw, in case you don't know, she is married. i don't know if that will
impact your salivation...

i *definitely* think you're a bit off your rocker in your comments about
rico. grow 5 inches??? she looks to be about 5'10" at least and she
has a pretty athletic build.

from what i've read in the newpapers, there are a lot of people who agree
with you on this one. personally, i used to think that she was a pooch
when she first showed up here - i empahasize the "used to".
interestingly, she apparently fancied herself as a singer at one time
since she mentioned that she had tried out for a motown audition when
she was in detroit...

personally, i think that bange is definitely one of the better looking
women on chicago tv on straight appearance. for my own part, i've never
had any problems with her such as you have described. to me, the name
is a bit of a curiousity but no big deal, and she certainly never came
across as an airhead. she always seems a bit stiff, even when she tries
to appear at ease but maybe that's because there are so many people who
think of her the way that you do.

i definitely think that amy stone is cute although it's ironic that someone
so diminutive in stature is doing sports - where she is interviewing people
who are generally taller than average.
when she started at cltv i guess peggy kusinski was on vacation or something
because i didn't see peggy k. about that time. i was a bit displeased about
that because it made me think that they gave peggy the axe in favor of a
cuter face [something to which i take great offense]. don't get me wrong,
on looks, peggy kusinski looks more like she ought to be *running* in the
arlington million horse race than reporting on it, but i personally like
her style of reporting and i consider her to be one of the better female
sportscasters that i've seen.

when she started on cltv, her youthful looking face, and pubescent sounding
voice led me to wonder if cltv had to get a work permit for her to be able
to work there. it does seem, however, that in the time that she has been
there she has put on quite a bit of weight: rather quickly, it seems.

you know, it's sort of funny, but for reasons which i can't quite understand
i've been totally fixated with the fabulous angela miles for over 3 years
and consider her to be absolutely fabulous. in fact, i always made it
a point to watch cltv news [when at all possible] when she was doing the
7:00pm and 10:00pm broadcasts and was really bummed out when she went to
daytime and i couldn't get my daily fix.
this is all quite remarkable because when you look at her semi-objectively
the fabulous angela miles is actually quite homely looking, but somehow
that just doesn't register in my mind. i agree that she does project an
interesting personality and a good sense of humor. i think what probably
sticks out the most in my mind is that, unlike most people on tv, there
seems to be a genuousness about her demeanor that makes me think that the
way that she is on tv is the way that she really is - i.e. that she's not
putting on an act.
the fabulous angela miles is currently hosting "around chicagoland" on
weekends but in this role she is in the studio solo and just setting
up pre-recorded pieces. i think that she is best when she is interacting
with the reporters in a live broadcast because more of her spontaneous
personality and sense of humor comes across.
i often times imagine that i'd like to meet her in real life and actually
wrote her a letter to tell her how fabulous i thought that she was [of
course i didn't give a return address - are you kidding? i'm sure she
turned that thing over to security as soon as she finished laughing at it]
but i can't imagine that she is as fabulous as in real life as the image
on tv is in my head so actually i wouldn't really want to meet her because
then she'd be a *real* human being, like all the other real human beings
that i meet: they breathe air, eat food, and have all sorts of nagging
imperfections. so the fabulous angela miles as a tv image is a nice
respite from reality for me. but hey! i'm glad to see that i'm not the
only person who thinks that she's fabulous - i was starting to wonder...
