Peterson and Western Red Light Camera Numbers

This is for Western and Peterson the year before, year of and year after;
Rear-end Angle Turning Sideswipe Headon Pedestrian Cl/Ra/Sn/Ns
2002 8 9 22 1-s 1-o 0 1 35/06/00/00
2003 11 2 16 2-s 0-o 0 0 23/08/00/01
2004 20 9 18 1-s x-o x x 37/08/01/02
1-s under sideswipe means 1 car sideswiped another going the same direction
1-o under sideswipe means 1 car sideswiped another going the opposite direction
x = no data given (they came as a series of .pdfs. Some fields had 0's and if
so they are listed with "0". If the field just disappeared, then it's listed
with "x" as I don't know if it's 0 or not collected.
Note: 2003 also had one "Parked Vehicle" accident which is included in the
weather totals but not listed in the ascii chart above as it was the
only year with such a accident stated.
Cl=Weather was Clear
Ra=Rain
Sn=SNow
Ns=Not Stated
We can't get 55th and western as she says;
"Sorry, we did not have the data (geo-coded) for the other intersection."
Files were titled "Peterson @ Western 200x.pdf" as sent to me, but I don't
think ripco would be happy with spaces in the names so I'm renaming them

I don't know what happened to the newer data (she gave me older data but I
figured this way we had 1 year before, 1 year after and the year of the camera
install) so I'm writing her again (maybe I just made it sound like I wanted the
year before and after the camera was installed when I talked to her the second
time). 2001 had more rear end accidents than 2002 but fewer than 2004.

BTW: If it's not too much trouble could you go to Western and Peterson
and measure the yellow light time?

Sorry, that's not my beef. There might be screwing around with those times,
I don't know. What I am wondering about though if there is really a sensor
in the street to detect you entering the intersection or if it just keys off
motion to reduce costs. Would seem to me a guy riding a bike around the inside
of a intersection in slowly enlarging circles shouldn't set it off constantly
until he gets to the edge. I dunno...

Thanks for the injection of unaccustomed facts and data, although I'm
not sure what place they have in chi.general. They may be inconvenient.
i know they installed some traffic sensing cams in Batavia at Kirk/Pine.
I love 'em -- they see me coming on my bike and flip the lights
immediately w/o my having to do the wheel/sensor dance. If they pop a
few red light runners* there -- heck. maybe they could install an
automatic ticketing system <http://tinyurl.com/2h92pa>
*(and i've seen enuf of RLRs at that intersection to firmly believe they
have greed and badness in their hearts, not honest oopsie nature. Kinda
like the assholes on Elston, except the kirk roadsters are doing ~60
mph.)
