Planning ahead, huh?

Indian Lakes is located in (or near) Bloomingdale. The main reason
most people go there is for the golf course and the occasional
antique/art/book/clothing fairs they do in the convention center.

My wife and I stayed there before Thanksgiving last year, and it
was average. The biggest complaint that we had was that the place
is pretty out-of-date. The decorating is circa-1972 "Brady Bunch"
style (lots of golds and browns), and the place was starting to
look pretty run down. Another thing that bothered me was that
they allowed pets-- as in big dogs-- to stay in the rooms, which
is a real pet peeve (pun intended) of mine: do I want to stay in
a room that some Dobie was locked up in for the past 24 hours?

Indian Lakes and its sister resort, Nordic Hills (right up the street
to the east) were once owned by Carson Pirie Scott. Both places
were pretty nice when I visited them for the first time, about
10 years ago. When Carson's was bought out a few years ago, they spun
off the restaurant arm (including the resorts) and things seemed to
go downhill.

As I write this, they might be trying to upgrade the resorts: I seem to
recall hearing that they were looking for a buyer, or at least a big
influx of money to fix the place up.

I doubt I'd stay there again until they did some serious remodeling.
If your relative is going to a convention or outing there, he might
want to call to see if they've done anything in that vein.
