For the last two mondays, some professionally equipped fellow has been
kind enough to mow my grasses. Thing is, i haven't asked anyone to do
that.

I'm going with wrong address. Gonna have to put a sign out next monday.

For the racially inclined, it's not a Mexican service as one might
expect, it's an elderly white guy who carries his mower around in his
trunk. (Intel provided by neighbors who think it's funny as hell.)

Nobody here loves me that much do they??? (barb does not).

Professionally equipped, in this case means lawnmower and weedwhacker.

Heh, look for the guy with very long grass.

BTW, in the 60's my days guys wrecked the wrong house. They got fired.

Could be a racket. I had to hear this story at a friend's house:

Friend's nephew ties the knot, and the happy couple buy a fixer-upper
in a neighborhood of tiny lots and postage stamp front lawns. Mom and
dad help out both financially and with sweat equity -- they're there
every weekend for months cleaning, painting, replacing cabinets and
fixtures, etc.

They discover that some elderly ex-mafioso has the neighborhood lawn
mowing concession. Uninvited, he cut our friends' front lawn, (five
minutes of work, no edging or trimming), and asked for $35 (to cover
two mowings). Our friend's sister-in-law told him to beat it. Yard
work at $210 an hour did not seem like a good deal to her.

Now he's trying to intimidate the kid into signing up. Apparently $35
is a big chunk of his fun money, too important to ignore, plus the
possible ripple effect in the neighborhood.

Could also be some burglary gang scoping for empty houses. Watch out
for the Service Master franchise from W. Chicago, they like trying to
open the outer storm door for "literature".

Not rocks. They might damage someone or some property. Get a few sections of rebar and pound them in there with a few inches protruding, and disguise them with dandelions or somesuch.

Why would you racially profile the service? We hired a service 3 years ago
to mow my parents lawn (my brother and I split it) and they are a mix of all
different races depending on the week.

A neighbor kid stuck metal tent stakes into a neighbors yard when his grass
was high. He was unhappy.

this was an awfully creative post paddlefuck! You got in not only the
typical "how great am I" anecdote, but you managed to take a swipe at
max at the same time. Good to see the old form coming back!
