Landscape Graphics presents an easy-to-master, logical progression of all the
basic graphics techniques used in landscape design and landscape
architecture. The only book devoted exclusively to landscape graphics, its
emphasis is on time-saving methods that encourage the rapid development
of skills.
Using clear illustrations and concise text, landscape architect Grant Reid
shows the relationship between the five major design phases--program
development, inventory and analysis, conceptual design, design development, and
design implementation--and their appropriate graphic products,
including site analyses, inventories, concept plans and sketches, presentation
plans, and working drawings.
Techniques of drawing with pencil, ink, and marker, of lettering, loose
freehand sketching, section-elevation drawing, and construction detail drafting
are presented with a focus on their sequential mastery.
There is a file of symbols, which may be copied or adapted to one's individual
style, plus a section that shows how to execute one-point and two-point
perspectives quickly and simply.
Appendixes provide clear instruction for using prepared perspective charts and
for doing nontraditional perspectives, as well as forty-nine carefully
sequenced exercises that help to build confidence.
Ideal for anyone beginning the study of landscape design or landscape
architecture, Landscape Graphics will be equally useful to all practicing
professionals who wish to sharpen their graphic skills and—through the
use of new time-saving techniques--utilize their drawing and drafting
time more profitably.
