This one really does taste like what you get in the movie theaters due to
its inclusion of
a butter packet that you pour over the product.
Now as with most of my snack endorsements I do not claim that these are
healthy or economical, but that they taste good to me.
This package contains two bags for $2 at walmart as opposed to some other
choices having 3 bags for that price.
http://www.ferrari-dvd.com/food/orviesmoviebutter.jpg
Now lets examine the nutrition info for kicks this is a bit of a math
problem...
50 calories per cup popped, 3.5 cups per serving....175...* 4.5 servings per
bag....
i dunno? 787 calories if ya snarf a whole bag?
point is it taste good.
> point is it taste good.
And that is the main point.
There was a brief news story this morning about Campbell soup going back and
adding more salt to the soups they reduced it in a while back.
Slumping sales.
Duh.
Salt, the other white crystal.

p.s. I have tried that variety of OR popcorn and it is mighty tasty but you
can't just help to take a pause while cutting open the packet and thinking
about the chemical composition of it. Besides having to stay fresh for
months on the shelf at room temps, it still has to pour liquidfied out.
Anyone remember General Cinema popcorn "butter"? To me it smelled as
if it were made with extract of vomit. Whenever we went to Ford City
we always declined the offer of "butter."
I'm not sure I would like popcorn store-bought that still has a liquid
component, but I'll have to remember to take down the name of the bag I
very occasionally buy from my local Arab mini-mart (which is also the
only place I've ever seen the stuff). It only comes in a movie theater
XXL-sized bag, and has a movie theater marquee image on the bag itself,
which is black otherwise... wait, lemme hit Google Image...
<http://images.bizrate.com/resize?sq=140&uid=1561955678>
That's it. Can't quite make out the brand on it.
At any rate, for my very occasional popcorn urge, this stuff is VERY
close to the theater popcorn, without being ultra greasy or involving
packets of chemical batter.

I don't like microwave popcorn but the boss over here buys it. We
shopped last night and she got a box of Act II Buttery Ketttle Corn.
If it smells better than the normal stuff I'll try a little and report
back. I didn't do the exact math but it looks like it's lower than
what you bought but not much.
Lou
Coconut oil. The best for popcorn. Try that with a little
sesame oil added in.
And of course use it as a butter delivery system...

My noted memory of ford city was that they had taco bell for sale in their
movie theaters.
Well that and also the story about my buddy who was sitting in a bathroom
stall doing what ya do there
and having thugs throw a slurpee over the wall onto him.
Teh googel says the brand was Lily, but is now "Popcorn Indiana,"
neither of which logo looks like smr's link.
That's because it's Original Movie Theater Popcorn made by the Popcorn,
Indiana company from Englewood, NJ.
Well, that's some lovely sleight of hand.
At any rate, it is damned tasty.

You know, quite sometime back, Ken, we had this discussion about coconut oil
being the best, so I went and bought a container of it and over time did 3
batches for #4 and I and the dogs.
It wasn't bad, but I still prefer soybean oil, particulary O.R.'s "Buttery
popcorn oil", for a superior popping oil, and even an additive.
Have you tried peanut oil? That's been my favorite forever.
........................................................................................
No, I haven't, but I shall. Peanut oil is what we use in the fryers at
cookouts.
That's what all microwave popcorn smells like to me.
Lou
I thought the same thing when I read the back of the bag. And yeah,
it's good stuff.
Here's the real Popcorn, IN: http://www.yoderpopcorn.com/
I buy the cheap popcorn and use this:
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Presto-PowerPop-Microwave-Popcorn-Popper/3164
I always bought the cheap popcorn at Jewel, and it was fine. Then I got
some OR in a jar on sale at Target. It was slightly bigger, not worth the
non-sale price. I saw a bag of generic at Walmart for really cheap, tried
that. Best popcorn out of the bunch. Big yellow popcorn. Delicious.

Was it mushroom or butterfly? I'd consider breaking my anti walmart
rule if it's mushroom. The best popcorn I've bought was from Farm And
Fleet in Rockford but it was a mix. I've found mushroom online but I
don't need 50 pounds. The older it gets the more dead soldiers there
are.
Lou
Damifino. It was popcorn. It popped big, few dead soldiers.

Here's the difference between the two. It's not slight.

Lou
Probably not, but I'll pop some tonight and let you know.
I never knew there was a difference. I thought some kernals popped either
way in a batch... actually I never gave it a thought.

That's great! Does the story develop in the direction of sofas in the
alley or switchblades?
I've got one of those also. It works great. It's in a box, packed away,
undoubtedly marked "Misc.".
Excellent! Unless I can find it locally I'll get it there. It's
expensive but I can justify it because I make caramel corn for gifts
at Christmas and birthdays.
Thanks for the link.

I didn't know myself until I started making caramel corn.

OK. I read the description. What the hell is a power pop
concentrator?
Lou
It's a small, round, coated disc, composed of a coated metal, that goes in
the bottpm of the vessel and holds oil/popcorn.
Useful a few times, then disposable.

I just popped up some of the Robust we grow. It is far more mushroomy
than otherwise, but really it looks like little corn squids.
Probaly like the shiny cardboard in microwave popcorn bags?
Lou
LOL. I've also seen the butterfly called oyster but squid seems
better. Allegedly mushroom has the least flavor but holds up the best
for coating. Valli has prepackaged bulk items with nothing on them
exept their sticker with the product name, weight, and price. We got
a bag of caramel corn last week what's completely mushroom. It's
pretty damn good and a very good price but has no nuts and it seems
they don't use any molasses. Mine is better but I want 100% mushroom
kernels.
Lou
Probably the same technology, Lou.
I had no complaints with the contraption, just haven't shuffled through
boxes looking for it.

I've got boxes like that too. Sometimes it's like Christmas morning.
Most of the time is goes to good will.
Lou
This disc thingie that goes in the bottom of the popper....I'm pretty sure
that was reverse engineered after Roswell.

I'm confused. I was talking about the mystery contents of the boxes.
