Friends of Cherry Hinton Hall would like to inform you of their upcoming meeting

Dear Friends

It will soon be time for our November meeting, which will be held on 16th Wednesday at the Cherry Hinton Village Leisure Centre at 7.30pm.

Our speaker will be Anthony French from Cambridge City Council, who is responsible for all open spaces in the city and will be giving us an update on developments in Cherry Hinton Hall regarding the master plan.

Anthony will be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding Cherry Hinton Hall. If you are unable to come along, please email your concern so that it can be raised at the meeting on your behalf.

There is also the matter of the extension and alterations planned for the Hall itself, which we still have to decide how to handle.

In case you have missed this, here is the links to the plans:  https://idox.cambridge.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=OBE4GJDXN0U00

and https://idox.cambridge.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=OBE4GJDXN0U00

The Friends have yet to give any sort of response to this plan as it was felt that we needed to be sure of what exactly this proposal means and what can be done.  We also need your opinion to enable a group response.

We will also be joined by Guy Belcher Biodiversity Officer for Cambridge City Council, who will be explaining the plan for dredging and improving the pond and waterways within the Hall, which are the next phase of the master plan.

Guy will have plan details of exactly what this involves with artist impressions and full details of the work. This is the  summary:

  • New benches near duck pond to replace the green ones.
  • New gravel in the above area.
  • Remove self set trees in the above area.
  • New waterfall with large boulders.
  • A "kingfisher area" to encourage breeding.
  • Concrete area used for Pets in the Park to be used as temporary workmans yard, will be fenced off.
  • Council to erect board near same area explaining what's going on.
  • Notices to be put on noticeboards explaining what's going on.
  • Guy to look at screening fence with a hedge around council store yard.
  • Benches to be replaced on other side of duck pond.
  • Work to be carried out November to January.
  • All silt to be used on site.
  • More trees as being cut down on other side of pond, these are clearly marked with green tape.
  • Also Guy to arrange for potholes to be filled at Cherry Hinton Rd entrance.

This is an open meeting and anyone is welcome to attend. Members are free and visitors only £1.  This is a very important meeting and your support is needed as there are many issues to discuss.  If you are unable to come along, please let me know your thoughts so we can present the members views  on any actions the meeting decides to take.

Thank you for your continuing support
