Dear friends -
This upcoming March 20th is an important day for the Jackson Heights community. Since November, hundreds of community residents and frequent visitors to the Jackson Heights neighborhood have been meeting in groups small and large to give their input on what it would mean to have a truly sustainable neighborhood and how we can get there together. The Green Agenda is sponsored by Queens Community House and Friends of Travers Park and supported by the Pratt Center for Community Development. The input from these sessions has been compiled, and now there's an opportunity to explore the issues that were raised so that the Green Agenda for Jackson Heights reflects and includes the entire community.
Through fun exercises, with translation available, and of course food, the March 20th event is a crucial moment to shape the future of the neighborhood. Your participation is invited. Fliers in English, Spanish and Bengla are attached. Please forward, print, post, call, and get the word out!
Topics that will be discussed include: housing, workforce issues, parks and open space, transportation, and issues of equity within the neighborhood.
We recognize that the following day (March 21st) is an important day of mobilization for many in the Jackson Heights community, and hope that this event also provides an opportunity to share what's happening amongst neighbors!
