Nepal had its second Constituent Assembly election two weeks ago.  The pressure is higher on the political leadership this time to deliver results.  The people of Nepal want not just a new constitution but also the real impact in the form of growth and stability.  What will be different this time?  What will the politics of change look like?  Ambassador Sharma will discuss the leadership challenges and opportunities in leveraging the 2013 election results to finalize the new Constitution, bring stable government, and promote inclusive growth.

Dr. Shankar Prasad Sharma is the Ambassador of Nepal to the United States. He was also the Vice-Chairman at the National Planning Commission (1999-2006), Chief Advisor in Ministry of Finance, and Alternate Governor of Nepal for the International Monetary Fund and Senior Economist in Institute of South East Asian Studies (1986–1993). He has a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Hawaii.

The event is co-sponsored by HKS South Asia Caucus, HKS India and South Asia Program, South Asia Institute and Center for Public Leadership.
