Hi guys!

I'm finally making borsch for everyone. This is the recipe my grandmother taught my mother when my mother first married my father. Over the last 33 or so years, my mother's perfected this recipe until it became a familiar tour-de-force. Now it's time for me to make it my own.

This soup takes three days to make and I'm going to make two versions. One is ridiculously meaty beef borsch. The other is what I like to call "Perestroyka Borsch": it's the vegetarian version made with kidney beans. This second version is actually vegan if you skip the traditional sour cream topping, and it's all gluten-free. So there is really no excuse for anyone not to come.

Once again, we're hosting this in Menlo Park! I'm inviting as many people as I have bowls for, so it's possible that we'll have to sit on the floor to eat this. :)

I'm so freakin excited!

Two questions:

and did mother marry your father more than once?
