Apologies for not getting an update from the last Town Hall sent out, I will work on that as soon as I can.
I do have a big announcement from October's Town Hall Meeting that our neighbor, Veta Richardson, was nominated and approved to be on the Cheverly Board of Ethics. A huge shout out to Veta for being willing to serve. And a huge THANK YOU to Mr. Anthony (Tony) Thomas for the years that he served so diligently on the Board of Ethics. I am grateful and know our community is grateful for the time you've given to represent our ward on this commission. Ward 6, we are lucky to have residents like Mr. Tony and Veta, both of whom are willing to serve.
I want to recognize our neighbor Anne-Claire Frank-Seisay who stepped up on Election Day to volunteer and was nominated and appointed to the Board of Elections Supervisors at the July Town Meeting. I count Ward 6 lucky to have you and your representation to serve on the Board of Elections!
Tonight, there is a public safety forum meeting at Town Hall. I consider this a part 2 of community conversations that Council Member Garces and I started in April after the shootings, murder, and tire and auto thefts off Landover Road continued to trend upward in Cheverly. Unfortunately, we are seeing the trends continue to impact other parts of Cheverly, so I am happy to see more neighbors tuned into the issues that have been occurring in our community for some time now. I hope everyone can make it, tune in, and/or watch the recording afterward. TOGETHER, we can keep Cheverly safe, but it will require all of us to do our parts.
On Friday 10/27 (confirming time now), Council Member Garces and I will host a Trunk or Treat with the management at Cheverly Station Apartments. I'll be posting more info soon, but PLEASE plan to attend, and if you would like to participate with your trunk (or a table) to pass out candy, please let me know CMW...@Cheverly-MD.gov
Lastly, do you see an issue on your street? Going down on 202? Going through one of our side streets?
If you see an issue in Cheverly, please use SEE CLICK FIX. IT's EASY to use, and it logs your issue and you can monitor it. THIS IS THE BEST WAY to get an issue resolved. I can follow up on it as well.
If you see an issue in the County, please use PGC311. AGAIN, we need to track where we see trends to make sure the resources are allocated to the areas we need.
Before you reach out to anybody, before you email - LOG IT and then give us a call. We can use the claim # to track it and follow up. This is ESSENTIAL, and you can do it from your phone!
HYBRID MEETING, Thursday (TONIGHT)
