Happy Indigenous People's Day Neighbors! I hope you can take a moment to learn more about the Piscataway and Anacostan Tribes of whose lands we currently inhabit. It is important to acknowledge where we dwell and the history and contributions of the indigenous people of this area.
For those of you who joined us at Public Safety Day, I hope you had a wonderful time. A big shout out to CPD and our Public Works Team for doing a phenomenal job yet again with this annual event.
If you missed the Town Meeting on Thursday, you can watch recordings of all town meetings here. The October Town Meeting agenda can be found here.
We were lucky enough to have another visit from Girl Scout Troop 22029. They came with thanks and also identified issues in our community. I love that the troop came with ideas to resolve these issues and offered to step up to be part of those solutions. I wanna thank the troop members for providing resident input and for being an active and engaged part of our community. I see many of these young people preparing themselves to serve on our Cheverly Youth Council.
Cheverly Council Updates
Mayor & Council Training and Reimbursement Policy was passed. Having been absent for most of August (a time we normally do NOT have an August work session), I abstained from this vote. I think the policy is much needed and because it is a policy that will be revisited with each new term, during the fiscal budgeting period, and as needed, I did not feel a need to hold up the policy.
Employees Auction Policy was passed to allow Town of Cheverly employees to purchase items before they are made available to the general public through a designated employee-only auction system.
Traffic Calming Devices for 1) Lake Avenue and 2) Forest Road (between Valley Way/Crest) will have a hearing coming up early November. Please be on the lookout for a notice in the Town Newsletter and News & Announcements.
Cheverly Town Administration Updates
Kilmer Park Pedestrian Pathway is currently in process of being designed to have an accessible path through the park.
Clean Water Partnership will attend the next worksession to provide updates.
Cheverly Public Works Updates
WSSC Work is still doing work throughout the Town. Please see below for information on how to contact WSSC directly.
If your last water bill seemed unusually high, please note that the first step is to contact WSSC. In order for any steps to be taken, their account specialist must be able to look up individual accounts. While I know that the response isn't always satisfactory, this first step must be taken as it helps WSSC collect the data and note the trends. Please also feel free to reach out to me CMW...@Cheverly-MD.gov so that I can be looped in. We are seeing this town-wide so it makes me skeptical to think that many homes have leaks. Contact David Wilkin's below for bill issues, and feel free to CC me on the email!
Contact information below for WSSC issues.
