When used on browsers, the software comes in the form of a plug in. This would then interact with the version embedded in web pages that would allow it to do things like play games or interact with certain types of content.
There are several reasons why you would want to have Flash Player embedded in your web pages, but the most important would have to be the fact that it is the single most popular multimedia platform in the world. This effectively makes it the default software that most developers base their projects on, especially when it comes to video games.
When you use Flash Player, you have significantly more options on the types of media and the sources of those media that you host. This expands your choices of content that you can offer your visitors, which will only ever be an advantage for any web manager.
Finally, you want to use Flash Player because it is incredibly simple to setup. For both novice and veteran web managers, efficiency and simplicity are important because it saves them a lot of time and effort. Regardless of which part of the spectrum you fall into, you would most likely agree that choosing the simpler option is always the most logical one.
A javascript is the scripting languages used on the web. It is utilized for the enhancement of HTML pages. Javascript is mostly found embedded in HTML codes. Actually, I was wrong. I meant tablet devices. I mean, my wife has the Cox Contour App on her tablet device and it runs fine there. And the Contour app requires flash player. So flash can clearly run on non-desktop systems. So Maria asserting that it only works on desktop systems when it can actually run on a tablet is wrong.
I'm not at all familiar with the Cox Contour App, so can't say if it uses Flash or not. It's also possible that it's an AIR app, which would work on Android devices. Bottom line is, Flash Player has never been supported on any gaming console, and hasn't been supported on Android devices for about 8 years now. You simply cannot install Flash Player, which is a browser plugin, not a separate app, on any Android device.
Give up on Flash Player and commit to work on an alternative. I am mentioning this in case you missed it, because it is very important. At the end of 2020 Flash Player reaches end-of-life and will be blocked for almost all users. Almost all Flash-based web sites and apps will stop working. More info from Adobe -of-life.html
Google removed the chrome://plugins settings page in the latest version of Chrome, which you have. We are in the process of updating the 'enable Flash Player in Chrome' tech note to reflect these changes.
I came to this thread hoping for help, as I am having the same issue. However, I've found that, for some reason, changing this setting does nothing. Chrome will still consistently block Flash on all sites, even when I have set Chrome to always allow Flash and added the website's domain to the list of allowed sites. I have relaunched Chrome several times.
the same problem for me intermittently for the last couple of months. It also messes with firefox and edge flashplayer. sometimes the whole page freezes when i try to play clips. sometimes only sound plays and clip pic freezes. sometimes clip plays with no sound and / or prompts to install flashplayer etc...
i'm using creators edition windows. drivers are as up to date as poss. using logitech g930 headset g700s mouse and logitech gaming software 8.92 when it works (though it screws up when flash screws up generally whether the sotware has been launched prior to flash failure or not...)
Google removed the chrome://flags/#prefer-html-over-flash setting in the latest version. The work-arounds available are no longer available. The only information we have now, from Google is their support document Use or fix Flash audio & video - Computer - Google Chrome Help .
I do not see 'prefer html over flash' in the chrome://plugins/flags menu listings.... please advise. I also have the same problem.... can't get adobe flash player to run in google chrome in facebook. I have a macbook pro and am running the latest versions of flash player and google chrome.... have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling chrome. Still getting 'plug-in blocked' . please advise.
After downloading the 10.0.3pre-beta of TenFourFox, I've noticedthat video playback of html5 content in YouTube, on my PowerBook G415" 1.5Ghz, has gotten horribly slow. What has happened? It used tobe slow on first playback sometimes, and really smooth afterwardsand sometimes on first, but now it's slow and choppy no matterwhat.
That said, Mozilla has repeatedly changed the priority of audiovs. video. At least one of these two will be stuttery no matterwhat if you don't own a multiprocessor G5. Right now, it's audioover video, meaning audio is smooth, video is a slideshow. Which Ifind easier to live with because my eyes are more tolerant than myears.
I'm using a slightly faster PowerBook G4 and I compared it to10.0.2, and I had far superior playback of html5 content, in fact Ifound that using Safari 5.0.6, the latest version for PPC macs, andhtml5 video plays smoothly, no matter what the resolution, even HDplays very smoothly, I'd say 95% smooth.
TenFourFox plays WebM, while Safari plays the H.264 version, sothey can't really be compared. Also, and that's the realdifference: Safari's H.264 playback is hardware (GPU) accelerated. This is something we can't match.
From another standpoint, I tries the QuickTime Enabler Extensionand found myself unable to use it. Any thoughts? By the way, I'veenabled plugins, but only use the QuickTime plugin, and havedisabled all other plugins including flash.
It doesn't matter if you have plugins enabled or not.Right-click anywhere in the page. Just not, on Youtube, the videoitself because the html5 player or the flash plugin will bothreplace the standard context menu with their own stuff. Select"Open YouTube Movie in QuickTime", or "Open Media in QuickTime" onany other website.
hmmm, well, I suggest we find a way to make webm playback fasteron these machines, and it's possible, CorePlayer a shareware videoplayer for mac intel/powerpc, uses vector processing for the h.264codec and other codecs, and it plays 1080p HD video on mac with atleast a 867Mhz G4 CPU!!! No joke.
I for one, will learn to program more (me ish an amateur), andwill download the TenFourFox Source code to make webm faster onPowerPC. I will support this project and I hope to become a fellowcontributor soon.
To insert the benevolent dictator's view, I'm well aware thatnative playback is suboptimal on G4 systems (even considering thatthe 7450 is an 11-year-old-design). You should have seen it beforeall the AltiVec code went in -- compare against one of the early 4betas.
I can't see a difference on WebM playback on my iBook/G4 1.33between .2 and .3pre (I tested this before shipping the change). The change is that the WebM decoder is allowed to use x decoderthreads, where x = number of cores. Before it was only allowed touse one, even on multi-processor Power Macs, although some of theload could run on the other cores. Now it can open extras, up tofour on the quad, but a single processor G4 will still just haveone.
1.25GHz is the number at which G4s will almost all do badly, butupper range G4s are all over the map. I have users who aredelighted with the performance at 1.33GHz, and others who getslideshows at 1.67. It seems to be a factor of the particular Macand whatever else is running. Most G5s can display WebM with littleissue, so G5s are the recommended systems. I expect the G5's muchfaster FSB is part of the reason it does much better even atsimilar clock speeds.
