Anyone that has had a Sampson expander for a while, how long do the
bands last? Do they ever need replacing?

I would assume all of the bands would perish over time, but I've got no idea
how long. It may depend on how they're stored (damp/dry environment, maybe
ambient temperature, obviously usage etc). You'd probably expect something
like that to last around the decade make would be my guess?

I have missplaced my instructions for my Sampson expander. Am I
supposed to wipe the strands down with armorall, and if so, how often?

I was told not to use Armorall on the Samson's. I do use it on the Lifeline cables though.

Thank you. K..., since you have both Lifeline, and Sampson, for those
that are trying to decide which to buy, what would you recommend?

Hi,

I would have to say Depending on the person’s degree of fitness (goals, etc.)

1. Lifeline expander's with the TNT handles are great. But there limited as far as resistance for certain exercises (shrugs, one hand deadlifts.etc) so,  what I did is take two original lifeline expander handles and glued them back to back (4 handles) instead of limited to three bands I can now use  six bands. They work great and there still cheaper than Sampson cables.  There is something about lifeline cables they just feel better to me than the cables that came along with Sampson handles. Also, I measured the resistance on the lifeline ( R8 ) Green cables to 45 inches.  With three (3) R8 cables in the sockets, I got 108lbs at 45 inches.  Plus, the Price for (3) R1-R9 are priced at 10 dollars each.  (The expander cables are 17 inches in length, I’m 6’2” and I have no trouble or worries that the cables will snap)

2. Sampson cables. Best made handles period. The grips are to close together, so you have to be careful not to scratch the latex bands as you place them inside the handle. Not to mention Very expensive. Plus side, the handle will hold a hell of a lot of loops, enough to stop a truck. I just don’t like the idea of paying 10 bucks per loop. Which are supposed to be 25lbs of resistance each? (I make my own now)

Hope this helps

Dave

Hi,

I don't use Armorall, I don't like it, and I think its useless on dashboards, let alone expander loops.

I have been using Turtle wax 2001 on the sampson loops and lifeline cables for a year now, and they both look brand new. (I use the lifeline cables almost every workout)

I was told on another forum to take the handles, and bend them
slightly, by someone that tried this with no problems, so as to
eliminate the problem of the ends of the handles being too close
together. It worked fine.

I think the Samson's are the best, but I do like the Lifeline's for some lower body work. The soft handles don't hurt my feet and are easier to balance on if you are wearing shoes.

The main drawbacks for the lifeline (for me) are when I am doing upper body work with them it feels like the slack has to come out of the handles before the cable resistance kicks in.
It's not much, but it bothers me.
Also the way the handles lose shape when I have them fully stretched makes it a bit uncomfortable for me, but I am the only one that I've ever seen complain about that.

The only drawbacks for the Samson's  is the price. To me they are well worth it.

I still use both, but the Samson's are my "go to" set.

For the lower body exercises, I use a Lifeline jogging belt attached to
the Sampson handle.
