Subject: Broad Ripple Chessclub - RESULTS unrated quick chess tournament January 4th 2011 at PerkUp / www.perkupindy.com

Broad Ripple Chessclub is happy to announce that we saw a very successful kick off for CHESS @ PerkUp this week!

Even though the tournament was announced at short notice, 13 of 16 spots for the tournament were taken.
We could even welcome Greg Kennedy, one of the current Top Ten Players in Indiana to our first tournament @ PerkUp (and despite the long drive for him - Thank You!)
- with a rating of Regular 2164 / Quick 2277 - USCF ranks Greg 7th in Indiana for the past 12 months.

After a short reception by the owners of “Brotgarten” and www.perkupindy.com, the tournament started at 7:15pm. Five rounds, two hours and a few time scrambles later it was a bit surprising to see that it were Bob Banta and Steffen Thieme who had gained an edge over their rivals and won first and second prize. For the players rated under 1400 - Kevin Rednour and Kurnie Nickson (both 3 points) tied for the “rating-prize”. Ryan McCully was our “lucky one” – the no 13 was allotted so he won the raffle prize! (The prizes being cash and $5 gift certificates equaled 150 % of the paid entries)

Please check the results table below and/or the attached pdf for more Information!

We are pleased about this successful start and hope to see you (again) for the next tournament TUESDAY 1st of FEBRUARY 2011, 7PM @ www.perkupindy.com

(more information to follow)
