I am resending this due to a error message from my other email, sorry if this is a duplicate but wanted to make sure everyone received the email
All I hope everyone has had a safe and enjoyable summer of flying, in and around the the bays and waterways of Virginia and Maryland. We have had some great events throughout the summer, the Woodberry’s splash-in on Lake Anna and the gathering to support the Philadelphia Seaplane Base. We had impressive turnouts at both events. Thanks to everyone who supported those events. As we move into the last month of the summer season, we have three great events planned to help promote seaplanes, and the seaplane community throughout the region.
Saturday August 10th
Seaplane Friends!
Details about the location, taxiing ashore, etc. are here: https://amphibflyer.com/
It should be a great day for seaplanes. (But we’ll send you a weather update a few days in advance, anyway.)

Saturday August 17th
On behalf of Helen Woods, Chesapeake Sport Pilot and all of you who enjoy salt water and Chesapeake Bay blue crabs, the annual Cambridge Hyatt splash-in is on for SATURDAY, AUGUST 17, one week after Don Maxwell’s “Late Fall” splash-in at his wonderful home on the James River. HIGH tide at the Cambridge Hyatt is forecast for 12:48 PM, but will only range about 1.5 ft. There is plenty of water to land outside the marina breakwater in any direction. There is plenty of water inside the marina breakwater to taxi. You should have plenty of beach for your amphib or float plane. RAIN DATE is the following SATURDAY, AUGUST 24.
I suggest you arrive by 11:00 AM, with people gathering talk and have lunch around noon. We have had as many as five aircraft up on the beach with others tied up within wading distance just off the beach. If you can’t float, you can land at Cambridge Airport KCGE (RWY 16-34, 4477’ x 75’ asphalt), about two miles south-east of the Hyatt. The approach end of Runway 16 is one mile from the Hyatt and the approach to 16 flies directly over the Hyatt. Uber will get you to the Hyatt quickly.

Sunday August 25th (this is corrected day/date)
Mark your calendars, we have a Splash-In at the Dockside Restaurant and Tikibar at Colonial Beach, Virginia, on Sunday August 25th. NOTE THE CHANGE!!!!!
I have talked with Shannon and they are excited that we are coming back. There has been a lot of interest by the locals, the Dockside Restaurant will be posting the event on their calendar and I would expect a good turnout. There will be a lot going on that weekend and you can expect a large number of people interested in talking with you and learning about seaplanes. The restaurant opens at 10 am, they will set aside an area for us to hang out. For those of you who want to offer rides, I think there will be an opportunity to do so. If you are interested in offering rides lets talk about options. I plan on trying to be on the beach by 9 am. I will have a radio on 123.45 to help guide anyone.
Please see the attached picture, which show where the Dockside Restaurant and Tikibar is located (southern end of the peninsula, as well as beaching locations. The beaches are white sand with pea gravel and shells. There are no ramps, so beaching will be the only option. The marina is just inside the harbor so there is some boat traffic. Last year we had approximately 12 planes show up and it was a great event. The site is user friendly so lets make it another great event.
I'd appreciate an email letting me know, so I can let them know how many to expect:
1. Name
2. Type seaplane
4. How many people in your group
5. Approximate arrival/departure time.
Looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones.

Sorry for the long email but I wanted to make sure everyone had the information and can make plans to attend one or all of the events. Please make sure you contact the individual POCs so they plan accordingly. We have had several new members joining the group, 2 Icon’s and one Petrel. I hope they will be making the events an we can welcome them into our flying family.
Thanks for a great season of safe flying despite the national trend. To end on a safety note, there has been a significant increase in seaplane accidents this season with many resulting in fatalities. While the majority of the accidents have been in Alaska and their causal factors have yet to be determined, there has been a increased number of gear down accidents within the seaplane community. Most recently the one in New Hampshire this past Saturday. I would be interested in your thoughts as to WHY, and would you as members of our group be interested in conducting a seaplane safety stand down. We could get together at a central location, discuss issues affecting us as seaplane pilots nationwide and locally, safety/training issues, and of course local attractions where we could hold splash-ins.
Thanks for all the support, I will not be able to make the Hyatt event, but hope to see you at one of the other upcoming events.
