All,
Unfortunately, I can’t make it. My Searey is still in FL doing stuff down there. I won’t be up with it until after the 4th of July. Having said that, I hope to see all of you at Don Maxwell’s on the James River (August 10), or at the Hyatt Cambridge, Cambridge MD (August 17) on the Chesapeake Bay.
Safe flying to everyone!
Glenn

If anyone needs some fuel on the water on the way up or back, I should have my 110-gallon 100LL trailer up and running at MD01 - Wingfield. Preference goes to those on straight floats. The new floating dock (short pilings - low-wings need a dock helper) and 12ft wide wooden ramp is complete, too.

I can honestly say that the first year there, not only were we greeted by the most friendly folks and Dan, but the history of the area make it well worth it!! If you can only get to one fly in this year, this has to be the one!!!
If that weren’t enough, the next best thing is getting requested clearance from ATC to fly under the Commodore Barry Bridge on your way out!!
Weather and Lord permitting, I’ll be there!

It is absolutely a good cause, and one which Rob Dant has been leading for a while. (Bravo Rob, you are one of my heros).
I feel like Eassington SPB is of profound historic significance, and needs to be kept as active as possible. It saddens me that so many of the original structures have been removed. Admittedly, the place had become a bit of a dump, but SPBs played a large role in early air travel Before the giant floating dock made of spiked-together logs was hauled off, I would look at it and wonder what business tycoon's Sikorsky may have been moored to the davits, and what politician or movie star may have walked ashore to catch the train into the city.
I currently don't have a seaplane at my disposal, but I hope some of you who do can attend and show the locals that the SPB is still relevant and important.
I've only flown in once, but it was a blast. Do not let the proximity to PHL intimidate you. Test drive it on Google Earth if you are anxious, but it is easy.

All,
This may be a little out of area but a good cause to keep a historic seaplane base operational here on the east coast. It would be nice to get a group to go from the Chesapeake region but for most of us it would have to be an over night. Please contact Rob if you are interested and can attend.

We continue to plan a lunchtime splash-in on June 29, 9AM to 1PM (Rain date June 30, 10AM-2PM) at Philadelphia.
We are getting a lot of local interest in the event, including the local township board, the police force, and Coast Guard Auxiliary. However, I fear that there will be very few seaplanes. I seem to have chosen a day too close to the holiday week, as many people seem to be away.
Besides making it a fun event, the purpose of this event is to demonstrate to the local township the level of interest in continued seaplane operations here. So, I am looking for ideas from the seaplane community for generating interest for June 29, or perhaps, a future date. I'd love to get your thoughts and to know even if you cannot make it.
Of course, the weather always determines things, but our dates depend heavily on high tide for ramp usage. This year, there are just 3 summer weekend mid-day high-tide days, with one being passing this Father's day weekend. I will decide soon to continue planning or cancel June 29 and try again later or wait until for next year.
