Saturday, August 15 is the best day for this year's splash-in, and we hope you can come!
Lunch around noon.
Where? On Jordan Point in the broad James River, 5 miles east of Hopewell VA, 12 miles south of KRIC, 5 miles out on the 260 degree radial of the HPW VOR.
The coordinates:
N37.3077º W77.2164º N37º 18.462' W077º 12.984' N37º 18' 27.7" W077º 12' 59.0"
High tide will be at 12:52 PM. So the water should be plenty deep from 8 or 9 AM on. (It's fresh water all the way downstream below Jamestown Island, where the salt water fishing license begins. The tide goes all the way up to Richmond, where the fall line is.)
There's a high-volume Sunoco station 1.5 miles south, and we have 5-gallon cans and a crew car. And the marina on our point has 89 octane gas with no ethanol.
