Hi All,
I've realized , I am talking to a tree out in the yard or my dog under the table re: its Richmond & the SoL's, & its up to the individual tchr in the classrm.

8th grd dughtr had her BIG WW II test the other day & could not tell me who Douglas MacArthur was. I did e-mail her tchr & did rec've a nice reply back ~ neither is Rommell or de Gaulle's named said in class, due to neither are on the SOL.
This week her class is learning of Communism expansion in the USSR. I asked her who is Karl Marx. Again, no clue.
Gee dear reader, how will she be able to recognize a gradual Communist (sp?)take over of Gov't, if she doesnt know the signs.

I did chat w/ a few gals at the ECI bldg of Chesp Schl brd & spoke with Betsy Thurston in Richmond, this past Fri, 19th. She tells me, We'll put your comments in the "Review Process". What's that? Oh in 4-5 yrs will be another review. The last was was 2008. You just missed it. I CANT WAIT THAT LONG FOR D MacArthur's name to be whispered in a class rm! I also did send an e-msg/ltr to ALL on our Chesp schl brd - no reply from any of those folks.

I've come to the conclusion our education is NOW, what Health Care
"Reform" will in years from now become ~ if its not on the list - We cant talk (pay for) it ~ the health prblm.
Thanks for reading. If you've got another direction I can take, feel free to reply either personally or on the chat list. Thanks Brenda G

There are so many interesting facts to be learned but sadly only so many
hours in the day. Therefore, the parameters must be drawn somewhere.
The great news is the library allows us to explore the world! Sharing a
book and having these discussions with our children is a great way to
create a fuller learning experience. :)
