Dear Architectural Review Board,

My family and I are thrilled to be moving into Cherry Hills next month! We’ve heard wonderful things about the neighborhood, and we’re really looking forward to joining such a welcoming and well-cared-for area.

As we prepare for our move, we’d like to start planning for a backyard fence and want to be sure we fully understand the neighborhood’s guidelines and requirements. Could you please share any architectural standards, fencing restrictions, or approval processes that we should be aware of?

We want to ensure that anything we install aligns with the community’s expectations and maintains the aesthetic that makes the neighborhood so beautiful.

Thank you in advance for your guidance. We truly appreciate your time and support, and we’re excited to become part of the neighborhood!

Warm regards,

Christine Canfield

Hello Christine,

My apologies for the delay. I'm trying to catch up on neighborhood business today. Welcome to the neighborhood. I have added your email address to our mailing list. We don't send much though. For a fence, the Arch Committee will need a drawing and details of your plan. If you are using a contractor, they typically provide a drawing you can send our way. We need to know the fence details (cedar, 6 ft, etc.) and a drawing that includes all measurements of your property and showing where the fence will go and its measurements, etc. You can even just use a google map of the property and draw on it, and take a picture and send it.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks,
Carla

Good afternoon,

Please find attached our plans for installation of a 6’ cedar privacy fence with Brooks Creek.

We intend to install along our lot lines in accordance with Champaign code. Since new drainage tile was installed along the back lot line in the last few years, we’re unsure if the original pins still mark the property line. Any documentation you can providing detailing our lot lines would be appreciated. We certainly want to ensure the accuracy of the location of the fence.

Best,

Hello Christine,

My apologies for the late reply and welcome to the neighborhood! Have you reached out to the city to get information about the lot lines? I'm hoping they were able to help with this information. If not, please let me know and I will figure something out for you.

Thanks,
Carla

No worries at all! We’re not slated for the install until Sept so we have some time to figure it out. We’re going to get a metal detector and see if we can locate the pins. If we have any issues, I’ll reach out.

Thanks,
Christine
