A scrolling screenshotor scroll capture lets you take a long shot of your screen. This is a perfectoption if you want to take a screenshot of long conversations or a Twitterthread. You can do this in the later Galaxy Note models, such as the GalaxyNote 9.

Taking a screenshot on Android is actually pretty simple, at least on paper. Where things get confusing is that many Android devices include OEM-specific changes to Android, so there are many different ways to take an Android screenshot.

You can take screenshots on most Android devices by simultaneously pressing the power + volume down buttons. This works on almost any device, so it's worth trying before moving on to other methods.

Doing things manually is starting to become a thing of the past. Many of us are starting to rely on Google Assistant or other digital assistants to do many things. One of them can be taking screenshots.

These basic methods should be all you need for most Android devices. However, there might be some exceptions. Android device manufacturers often include extra and unique ways of taking Android screenshots. For instance, you can take a screenshot on Samsung phones using the S Pen (if your device has one). Other manufacturers have opted to replace the default method entirely and use their own instead.

The Galaxy Note series has been phased out, but the S Pen continues, and the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra still carries one. You can use the S Pen to take a screenshot, given that your device comes with one.

Since Google Pixel devices run Pixel UI, these handsets use all the standard methods for taking screenshots. You can go back to the first section of this post for specific instructions, or just press the side and volume down buttons simultaneously.

Another option is to use Air Motion. This works with the LG G8 ThinQ, LG Velvet, LG V60 ThinQ, and other devices. It involves using the built-in ToF (time-of-flight) camera to recognize air gestures. Just wave your hand over the device until you see the icon showing that it has identified the gesture. Then pinch the air by bringing your fingertips together, and then pulling them apart again.

Taking a screenshot on iOS is the same whether or not VoiceOver is on. On devices with a home button, press the home button and lock button at the same time. On devices with no home button, press the volume up and side button at the same time.

In iOS 15.4, currently in beta, Apple has made it possible to change the corner of the screen that you swipe from to invoke Quick Notes, or to add the same gesture to the bottom-left corner of the screen.

Not only that, it has also made it possible to add a second corner gesture that takes an instant screenshot, and it has added an option turn off corner gestures completely. Here's how to customize your corner gestures.

It's surprising how often you need to take a screenshot on your phone. Whether it's to capture a social media post, the winning screen in a game, or a funny meme, knowing how to take screenshots is vital.

2. Press the Volume Down and Power buttons simultaneously, and hold them for a second until the screenshot is taken. You'll see the screen flash and shrink slightly.

3. The screenshot toolstrip will appear at the bottom of the screen for a few seconds. You can use the tools here to edit the image, but if you just wait a few moments, the screenshot will slide off-screen and be saved to the Gallery.

Quick tip: To find your screenshots, open the Gallery app on your Samsung Galaxy, tap Albums in the bottom menu, and then tap the Screenshots album. You will find them there.

Normally when you take a screenshot, it'll only capture what you can currently see on the screen. This is usually fine, but won't work if you're trying to screenshot an entire webpage, or a long post.

Quick tip: If you're using a Galaxy with an S Pen, you can also take a long screenshot by using the S Pen, selecting Screen write, and choosing Scroll capture.

Customizing Multitouch Gestures in Firefox: As a long time user of the Multiclutch, which lets anyone configure their own multitouch gesture commands, I was concerned when my custom gestures stopped working for the new 64 bit Firefox 4. I searched on...

Taking a screenshot on your iPhone is a vital function that everyone should know. On iPhone models with a Home button, pressing the Home and Power buttons together will capture everything that's on your screen. If you have an iPhone without a Home button, the shortcut is instead the Side and Volume Up buttons together.

To use the main method of taking an iPhone screenshot without the Home button, you'll need to enable AssistiveTouch on your iPhone. This is an accessibility feature that allows you to access many of your iPhone's functions from a software menu, instead of having to use buttons for them. It's useful for people who have trouble pressing buttons or using gestures, or if your iPhone has a broken button.

Whenever you tap this AssistiveTouch icon, it opens a menu that provides quick access to various functions. To easily add screenshot functionality to the menu, select Customize Top Level Menu on the Settings page.

For a really fast way to take a screenshot, you can also use a shortcut to avoid tapping through menus. On the main AssistiveTouch menu, select the Double-Tap or Long Press options and set either one to Screenshot. Then, either quickly tap twice, or press and hold, the AssistiveTouch button to take a screenshot.

Now, you can take a fast iPhone screenshot without any buttons. Just select Screenshot from the AssistiveTouch menu, or perform your assigned tapping shortcut, and your iPhone will take a screenshot. This happens just like the usual method of taking an iPhone screenshot with the buttons.

For even more convenience, you can use another iPhone accessibility shortcut to take screenshots without the buttons. This feature is called Back Tap and allows you to perform actions simply by hitting the back of your device with your fingers on supported iPhone models (iPhone 8 and later, running at least iOS 14).

Select Screenshot to take a fast screenshot with a few taps. If you don't want to do this for some reason, try combining this shortcut with AssistiveTouch that we described above. Choose AssistiveTouch for one of your Back Tap shortcuts, and you'll be able to toggle the feature on and off by tapping.

You might not have realized that one of Siri's lesser-known tricks is taking a screenshot for you. Simply summon Siri by saying "Hey Siri," or by pressing and holding the Side button (or the Home button if your iPhone has one). Say "Take a screenshot" and after a moment, Siri will acknowledge the request and snap a screenshot as normal.

Now you know how to take a screenshot on your iPhone, even if you can't use the Home or other buttons. One or more of these methods will suffice for grabbing screenshots while your buttons aren't working.

Taking a screenshot on your Apple gadget will only require you some click on the buttons. This old method applies to smartphones and iPads. However, there's a new way to do that on the new iPadOS version.

For the iPadOS 16, you can capture a screenshot of the image you want to save without pressing any physical buttons. Through gestures, there are various techniques on how to accomplish this process with ease.

With the newly-launched iPad OS, you can do some tricks by simultaneously clicking the side and volume buttons. This requires another pressing series to grab a screenshot, but there are more innovative ways to do this.

Aside from the above-mentioned process, there's another way to use gestures, but this time, you won't take any screenshots. A simple finger slide will give you quick access to the Quick Note. You can also do this using an Apple Pencil.

Since Samsung removed the physical home key on its handsets - way back on the Galaxy S8 - the method of taking a screenshot has changed. And with a modern Samsung Galaxy S device, such as the S23 series, you might end up launching Bixby or loading the power-off screen instead.

So how do you take a screenshot on your Galaxy S23 or S22 (or, indeed, older device such as the Galaxy S9, Galaxy S10, Galaxy S20, Galaxy S21)? There are a number of different options, with some Samsung additions to make it more useful than your average Android device. Here's how.

The next thing to know about screenshotting on a Galaxy S series is that smart capture - which is now called screenshot toolbar - will do a lot more for you. This is something fairly unique to Samsung and lets you instantly do things to your screenshot, rather than having to go and open it up on your gallery.

This third method isn't a complete screenshot, but it's a very useful way of capturing information that's on the display, using a feature called smart select. If you've been a Note user in the past, some of this might sound familiar.

Option 2 (Partial screenshot on Oxygen OS 12+ only): Tap and hold on to the screen using 3 fingers. Then swipe down to select the area that you want to screenshot. Release the fingers and then manually adjust the selection.
