The Windows Boot Loader is a small software that is used in all versions of Windows operating systems. Its job, simply put, is to load essential drivers in your OS. The Windows Boot Manager's work is at the time when the computer is being started. It stores all the boot options and settings for your Windows.
Hence, errors in the boot manager codes and protocol will likely cause hindrances in startup and performance.

If you cannot boot your device properly or the Winload.exe is facing problems such as the 0xc000000f error, it is important to fix it right away. In the article below, you will find methods that will assist you in getting rid of this error effectively.

If your Windows fails to boot and displays an error code 0xc000000f, it can be quite concerning. When the Boot Configuration Database cannot be detected or read while your computer is starting, you will encounter the error, and the boot process will be interrupted. Following are some reasons for why this happens.

Now that we have looked at the reasons for the Winload.exe 0xc000000f error let us now move on to the methods that will help deal with it. Go through the methods given below and see what works best for you.

The Startup Repair tool in Windows is a good way to scan and repair the corrupted or damaged files in your computer. For this method to work, you will need a Windows Setup DVD or Bootable USB Installation. Once done, proceed as mentioned below:

Damaged power cables can cause boot errors such as the 0xc000000f error. If you see the error, check your data cables and remove all the external devices from your computer before trying anything else. These simple steps can help you to solve your problem.

The Windows.old folder is made when you update your Windows or perform a clean install. It contains previous installation files in case you need to restore them. This folder can often cause several exe file errors. To remove it from your system, follow the steps given below.

Although the above-mentioned method is guaranteed to get you out of your problem, a few precautionary measures cannot do any harm. It is good to take some things into common practice so that you can prevent errors like these from arising in the first place. You can try some of these to avoid problems with your computer and OS.

Windows Boot Loader is a small yet essential software for your computer. Any rising error in it can cause multiple problems for users. Negligence in this regard can lead to more trouble. That is why it is necessary to get rid of the issue as soon as possible.
Here, we tried our best to provide you with all the necessary and accurate information required to tackle the issue. If you face the Winload.exe error code 0xc000000f, you now know what to do and how to do it. Do not forget to keep the above-mentioned tips in mind the next time you operate your device, for watchfulness can go a long way.

If you wish to check whether Winload.exe is causing high disk usage, you can do so by opening the Task Manager on your computer. Once there, click on the Disk option at the top, which will sort the running programs by disk usage. You can check the usage of Winload.exe from there.

In order to check whether the Winload.exe is a virus or malware, open Task Manager on your device. Next, tap on the columns field and add a column named "Verified Signer." Then, look for Winload.exe and check its Verified Signer value. If it says "unable to verify," then the file may be a virus or malware. If not, it is safe to run.

It appears that the solution is the same as for when cloning Windows7 and getting error 0xc00000e: Start Windows, edit the Registry, head for the HKLM\System\MountedDevices\ section, remove all entries except "Default", and then save this partition using CloneZilla.

Just clearing HKLM\System\MountedDevices\ can render the original system unbootable if your system's partitions are arranged unusually, e.g. the partition given the drive letter c: is not the first partition or not the active one.

The symptoms I got, both on the cloned system and the original, was that after starting,
(a) many drivers were not found, leading to built-in devices (keyboard, touchpad) not working. External USB mouse etc. would work though.
(b) after logging on, Windows displays a message that it's rebuilding the desktop, but never finishes.

If the original system relied on a nonstandard drive letter ordering to boot, the cloned system will likely need an equivalent. That is, the UUID entries in HKLM\System\MountedDevices\ have to be updated to point to the cloned equivalents of the original partitions. The following steps should work but are certainly not the only way:

(2) Connect the cloned drive to a Windows system (I'll call it "host" below) as an USB disk, find the cloned partitions in Explorer, noting the removable drive letters they were assigned, then look at the host's HKLM\System\MountedDevices\ and for each removable drive letter, find the two matching entries

Recovery: if you already deleted all entries in \HKLM\System\MountedDevices and have unbootable original\clone disks, load those disks' system partitions' SYSTEM hives (as above in step 3) on another Windows machine. The partitions should have been assigned consecutive C:, D:, E: etc.. Rename the \DosDevices\<Letter>: entries with the appropriate drive letters.

On windows 10, with a similar error about winload.exe I ended up creating a windows recovery USB on another windows 10 PC (running Create Recovery Drive and electing not to copy system files). Then booting from that with the cloned drive in the PC and selecting Troubleshooting etc. finally running the commands given by Jens above.

I just had this problem myself. Turns out I was trying to install a 64 bit OS on a virtual machine that I created before I enabled virtualization in the BIOS. The solution was to delete the VM and create a new one. If virtualization is enabled, you will see Windows Server 2008 (64 bit) as an option when you create a new VM.

We exported .OVA files from ESX and tried to import them into VirtualBox, which led to this error. It turns out that during the import, the OS in the VirtualBox settings was set to "Other"; changing it to the right OS got rid of this problem and allowed us to boot up.

Do you think I can run the GPT fdisk off that USB drive , from within the techtool environment (I can launch Terminal) it appears from the GPT fdisk sourceforge site, it can run in Linux, Mac, Windows... so I think I can probably run it in Terminal (from the TechTool eDisk)

Your disk0 and disk2 appear to be correct here. The Microsoft Reserved is unnecessary, but should not hurt anything if left as is. For you to see the Windows as bootable, we need to create a hybrid MBR on disk2. Too check what it has now, post the output of

For current disk1 (do not type text like this), we will delete the current GPT, and rebuild the same entries in a different order. Check the Start/End values for any errors, before you execute the steps.

The long string of commands in repairing the GPT, trying to resurrect BootCamp... do you feel we are taking great risks to the whole system? If so, maybe I'll just leave everything as is... and move on...

it does load up only win7 system when i press the F9 key on that light blue error screen... (F8 and Enter just goes in a loop and won't do anything in there...) - and when i check the startup options under msconfig, it shows that the win10 partition is default, but just doesn't show any drive letter in front of it (which might be quite normal for a multi-boot system tho?)

cannot boot into windows...windows boot manager informs me the file \windows\system\32\winload.exe is missing or corrupt, status: OxcOOOOOOf...i've inserted os disc and changed the first boot to cd but it will not read it and takes me back to boot manager.

If you have any question regarding replacing the drive, or want the Maintenance & Service Guide, please let me know - include the full Model No. and Product No. of your cq61 series notebook - see Here for a further explanation.

Thanks for your response Dave....followed your instructions but it defaults to boot manager each time, having pressed enter it asks to choose an os, pressed enter again, it then returns to boot manager.

Shut down the notebook. Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to enter the Start-up Menu. Select the Bios option ( f10 ) and under the Advanced or Diagnostic tab you should find the facility to run a test on both the Hard Drive.

Seemingly out of the blue our WDS server has developed a very annoying issue with a capture image that up until today was working perfectly previously. What we are now experiencing when we network boot and then select the "Capture" boot image is an error that states:

Boot using the Windows installation DVD and as soon as you see the message "Press any key to boot from DVD ...", do so. Then select the link "Repair your computer". Next, select which type of recovery you need. In this case, we need to select "Startup Repair" and patiently wait for the scan to finish. After that, remove the boot disk and try to turn on the computer.

Although DiskInternalsPartition Recovery tool cannot make backups, it can create a disk image for free. A disk image is a bit like a backup, as it retains not only files, but all disk information, as well as deleted data. It's like making a virtual copy of your hard drive on an external drive.

DiskInternals Partition Recovery is right for you if you make a mistake while trying to fix the winload.exe error and it results in data deletion or even the loss of an entire partition. The application scans each partition separately and can convert the file system if necessary (for example, if it is damaged). All files and folders found can be previewed free of charge. Then, to export the data, simply purchase a license from the company's website. With the license, you will get unlimited access to all necessary files as well as technical support. Help from the company's specialists is available free of charge throughout the year. Good luck to you!
