Im off to Swift in Newcastle 28th hopefully to get to the bottom of this problem ? I'll pass on the findings so others don't have to change the various parts I have to solve the traction issue ? spent a few quid on self diagnostic solutions ?

Just a process of illumination after 1st changing out the pump ? had tge vag com tool, vcds and obd11 lookimg for faults, nothing showing up, the problem will raise its hed after hard 1st to 3rd gear pulls, somethines just a regular 2nd gear pull, it's got me baffled, hopefully swift in Newcastle will get to the bottom of it, I can't believe I'm the only vwroc member that's experienced this ?

AFAIK the only reliable way to test for the gear slipping on the shaft in the bevel box/transfer case is to put the car up on a hoist, put the DSG in park and then try to turn the propshaft. You will need a BIG set of multi-grips or similar to get enough torque (sometimes the gear only slips sometimes, usually when under extreme torque). If you can turn the propshaft the gear in the bevel box IS slipping on its shaft.

There are several different things that can go wrong with delivering drive to the rear wheels of an R, and the fault codes (if any) are often not very precise in pointing out what is actually wrong. This is why so many people mis-diagnose and end up replacing parts that are working fine without fixing the issue.

So new transfer case has ruled out thats the issue, however today I changed out the rear axle oil, to find 800ml drained and 1300ml added, had car out in the wet today and lashed it around, I was pressed for time but I can say it seemed better, however the fault I have is intermittent, I hope swift can find the issue, I believe the only 2 options could be haldex ecu or haldex clutch plates, I will let you all know as I can't be the only person with this issue, but saying that I drive the car like a tool, bit only when no risk to others ?

So another change on the car to try and fix my intermittent traction control issue, I read a dicky battery can cause issues, so had the battery checked, the machine said bad change out ? so 219 for a new battery, ran the battery adaption with obd11, I ran the pump prime again, drove around 5 miles easy does it, then pushed the car 2nd and 3rd gear for about 1 hour, ran the car for another 1hour thereafter doimg 1st 2nd 3rd gear pulls, and all good since, hoping same story tomorrow and if so happy days ?

So took the car out on the night time, battery under more load heaters, windscreen wipers etc, car started to slip again, done a check on the battery which indicated a new battery was required, new battery fitted and adaption done with obd11, and all good since, fingers crossed that's the end of the traction issue ?

I performed a Haldex service today, drained fluid, removed pump and cleaned filter, refitted pump with new seals, filled system, started engine, ensured temp was in range, topped up fluid, but somehow the pump doesn't appear to be working with OBD11.

If i try the Output test > Haldex Clutch Actuation with default values then the status shows Active. If I specify a duration of any length it will fail with the error on page 1 of this thread, or returns function not available.

I suspect the pump has decided to shit the bed, but reading previous posts about the Haldex controller needing to be replaced concerns me greatly. If this can happen from a simple service with removal and refit of the pump, no wonder dealers refuse to do the same to clean the filter.

Did you run the pump learn again with obd11 to help prime the pump? If thats not working do You know anyone that has VCDS that could try and run the pump learn for you? Was the car powering all 4 wheels before the service? I would run the pump learn a couple of times, to prime the pump, and make sure you back out of the obd11 before you remove the dongle ?
