As we enter the last lap of the race, its time to speed up ..Plan to share tips from Chennai Runners on the facebook page..daily tip ranging from nutrition , training , to running gear etc..

May I request you all to mail your tips .I plan to share with the group asap

Nutrition: I eat an extra bit of curd rice on the night before the rice (no kidding!). 
I eat something solid before the race. Bananas, bread + Peanut Butter, with coffee. If all else fails (like in Auroville I stayed at a hotel that had nothing that early am and I didnt have time prvs night to buy bananas) - I eat a packet of Gu with water. One time I tried to eat some biscuits and that was a bad idea. Biscuits are very convenient but they invariably hurt my stomach so now I know I must avoid them. Bananas are the best bet really. 

Running Gear: I wear nothing new on race day. Absolutely NOTHING new. Not even socks. My race day gear is kept all ready on the night before the race. I pin the bib to the shirt on the night before, attach the timing chip to the shoe. I usually carry a little pouch with Gu etc. on my person on race day. I keep a bit of money in a little plastic ziploc bag inside the pouch.

I don't do anything 'extra' on race day which is different from my training days, except hydrate well the previous day.
So it's pasta or arasi upma or curd rice the previous night. Mornings will be cashews, badams,dry grapes along with prunes or dates. Sometimes just a banana. Coffee used to work, when my dad used to prepare it before my runs.
After the run I have two egg whites within 1 hour.
Running gear I can't do without are my fuel belt and ipod

My last training run will be on Thursday for a Sunday race.  Not more than 5K.

I try not to experiment on food the day before which I have done in the past.  Probably pasta for dinner.  The morning of the race, Green tea, banana and a muffin 3 hours before the run.  For a full marathon, I make sure I have a gel every 45 minutes. For a half, just water is fine.

Nutrition
I eat heavy - carb loading et al till  5-6PM the day before the run....after that just eat fruits and sip gatorade. On the morning of the run, have a couple of small bananas, an energy bar and about 500 ml of gatorade. Start eating small bits only after 20K during a marathon

Training
No running or strength training a week before the run....only stretching and walking maybe. 

Running gear
Keep everything (watch, shoes, clothes, etc.) ready the night before. Tried applying volini on my legs in the morning before Hyderabad marathon last year and i think that helped a great deal...no muscle fatigue till about 35K or so...

CRCT  and Show Space Meeting on 18th Nov @ AU 

ARs ( Action Required) 

- race day instructions including Parking : krishna and Baskar to do parking instructions  & Bala and Shanthi to race day instructions send mails to Senthil Anand. Senthil Anand to repeat the mailing every alternate day. Monday  (19th) drafts will be sent by the teams and Wed  (21st) Senthil Anand to start mailing. 

- manpower/ volunteer: Hari to draft mail and send to Senthil Anand 

- route marshals: hari to co-ordinate with Ajay Kandappa for cycle pilots and sweepers. Hari to mail instructions to Marshals and coOrdinate meeting. 
Baskar: We need pilot vehicles and sweeping vehicles 
Baskar to Arrange for video and photographers 
Connect with Remedia of Wipro: Ram and Shahid to close instructions and update the website 

- bib distribution: Bala to co-ordinate with Showspace 

- Route:  Hari will do a reiki with Show space. Deciding on signages, paintings, mile marking, directions, aid station placement 

 Shankar Lal to coordinate with Showspace regarding aid station placements, aid station menu, content per station by aid station number. 

Travel desk: Hari to get a strong co-ordinator 

Medals: decision has been taken. Which holds good. 

Baskar and Senthil to discuss and plan the communication structure 

Hari, Selva, SLMP, Shahul,  Baskar and Bala will discuss about gathering the volunteers, logistics etc. 

- special children's run @ 8 :15 AM 
- CEO' run @ 8 AM
