Recently Some of friends were talking about hadoop in virtualized environment.
I thought i could share some info about it.
Apart from AWS, VMware also grabbed a piece of the cake.

VMWare has released their project 'SERENGETI' which allows the installing as well as management of the hadoop cluster some time back.
With this, vmware clubs the benefits of cloud infrastructure (rapid deployment, high-availability, optimal resource utilization, elasticity, and secure multi-tenancy) to Hadoop EcoSystem.

Other approaches of VMWARE towards hadoop are
1. Spring to Hadoop (From Feb 2012)
2. Bought a startup 'cetas' which does analytic using hadoop.
