Hi 

I was trying to configure kafka in quick start cloudera 5.4 vm latest box, I was getting error "Service did not start successfully; not all of the required roles started: Service has only 0 Kafka Broker roles running instead of minimum required 1." while adding service before installed Kafka parcel.

Kindly help me to resolve this issue.

I know this is a pretty late reply but i had this issue even with 5.7 VM and we have to move out from package style to parcel style becoz in the standalone VM, they still have not done that and we cannot install kafka.

The Quickstart VM uses a package-based installation by default, which is why your Kafka parcel displays the error (cause there's no CDH parcel in use). You will need to convert the VM into using parcels by following this
