Chenla and the Burr Metadata Framework has been in full time
development for over five years.
We published a paper introducing the BMF markup language to
the world in 2006 at the Extreme Markup Conference:
http://www.idealliance.org/papers/extreme/proceedings/xslfo-pdf/2006/Collins01/EML2006Collins01.pdf
Since then we've continued development on BMF and tried to
raise some investment to start a commercial company based on
the technology. We're still talking to potential investors.
In the mean time, BMF has come a long ways and it's time to
start putting what we've developed out for people to have a
look.
I am in the process of setting up a project web site at
http://chenla.la and there is a sister blog at
http://chenla.org
There is a tremendous amount of material that I have to put
up online, and I will slowly get it cleaned up and added to
the wiki.
Our first client application Emacs Burs is undergoing a
major update to reflect the new structural changes to the
markup languages since we presented the paper in 2006.
As soon as it's cleaned up I will place it up online.
AJAX Burs is also coming along, but still needs work to wire
into the backend which will be built on top of CouchDB.
We also have a number of XSLT scripts for turning BMF Burs
into html and other formats which will be released as well.
Keep an eye on the web Site and please let me know what you
think.
Cheers,
b/
