Scientifically oriented question – What is the estimated size of an oil molecule?
Evidence – The drop of the oil molecule was 0.5mm. The diameter of the oil spread was 10mm and the area was 78.53mm^2 while the volume was 0.06mm^3. With this information I concluded the the thickness to be 0.00083mm.
Explanation- After we found the the volume of the oil we could find the area of the drop and then the thickness. With all of these measurements we could conclude the the size to be 0.00083mm.
Connection- When and if i ever need to find the size of a molecule and know i can find it cause this lab showed us how to figure that out.
Communication – In class we are learn how make measurements and calculations. So the lab gives us examples of when we would have to do this.
Reflection – I learned that when measuring and calculating you have to be precise and accurate.
