SHARE- IITR under the aegis of the Yunus Centre & Cognizance 2011 proudly presents Jagrit–The Social Business Leadership Hunt, the first event of its kind in the country. It is, in other words, the search for the most socially conscious and aware student of India.
ShARE is an international think tank for students that strive to better understand the complexities of local socio economic issues through presentations, conferences and projects. ShARE’s vision is to generate, share and use knowledge to contribute to regions’ human, social and economic development. Introduction
From February 12th until March 12th , ShARE IIT Roorkee in Collaboration with the Yunus Centre and Cognizance 2011 will hold a competition for Indian Students, challenging them to formulate ideas for Social Businesses that would tackle real social problems in India. The aim of the contest is to hunt for one the most socially conscious student of India.
How the contest works
The contest is open to all Indian University students. If you are interested, please register online before February 28th on both the Cognizance website (http://www.cognizance.org.in/2011/registration/register.php) and www.share-share.org/contest2/. Once registered, you will have access to Applicant Access on the contest website. The Applicant Access contains all information needed to participate in the contest. The contest will be split into 2 Rounds.
Feb 12 - March 5 , 2011
During the first phase of this event, a Social Business Case Study based on a real social problem in India with all the facts and demographics available for the issue is floated . You can download the Case Study once you register and gain access to the Applicant Access. The candidates are required to come up with a solution to the problem enlisted in the Case Study in the form of a Social Business Plan in a preset format or Template . The Presentation Template will again be made available in the Applicant Access.Candidates can submit their finished Power Point Presentations by uploading them in the Applicant Access.
All entries recieved during Round 1 will be judged by the Yunus Center.
The best 10 entries will be called up for the Round-2 of this event to be held on Day 2 of Cognizance.
Meanwhile a Wild Card Entry round will be organized on Day 1 i.e. of Cognizance on March 11, 2011 at IIT Roorkee for all the participants visiting the festival . Registrations for the wild card entry round will be done on the spot. 3 Candidates will be selected out of the Wild Card Entry round to join the existing 10 finalists in Round 2.
ROUND 2 (AT IIT ROORKEE)
Day 2, Cognizance March 12, 2011
1.For the second phase, the 13 total finalists will be required to start afresh as a new case study will be released them on Day 1 of Cognizance. All participants will be provided with a few charts, markers and internet facilities to solve the case and they will have one full day to use all their entrepreneurial intelligence to come out with a Social B-Plan to be presented before the judges and the audience on Day.
2.There will be an added advantage for the contestants as there will be scores for audience polls as well. The Judges panel will then select the best Business Plan and declare the winner.

All the proceedings of Round 1 will take place on the contest website. Once you are registered here, you will have access to the Case Study that you need to solve, Detailed instructions, 'Social business’ training, Presentation template and the submission function.
