With the Memorial Day weekend behind us, we now find ourselves rapidly
approaching the end of another school year. We have the following few
announcements to share as you recover from this beautiful weekend.

UPG and District Join Together for End-of-Year Strategic Planning
Review -- June 4th, 7:15pm, Administration Building
Plans have been finalized for UPG and the District administration to
hold a joint discussion of strategic planning for the next school year
on June 4th at 7:15pm in the Administration building. A formal agenda
will be circulated across the community shortly (watch our website)
and, of course, you and your neighbors are warmly invited. A flyer is
also attached as a reminder.
This is a major event for the community and we're sure it will be
enlightening for all. Because we expect a large attendance, the
meeting will take place in the auditorium.
While UPG will be reviewing our progress and plans as well, a
significant portion of the time has been dedicated to presentations by
leaders of various departments of the Administration regarding the
established District strategic plans. There will be ample time
allotted for feedback and questions, too.
Please come and help make this event a success and the foundation for
an annual community discussion.

Hollo, and Sheriff families along with Marcella’s Music in Glenside
have joined forces to support Cedarbrook programs via the “Cash for

assemblies and field trips! Please review the attachment for further
information and, most importantly, save your discarded trash because
our community can get "Cash for Trash!"

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED for the Post Prom Party -- Thursday June 11th, 2009
HELP WANTED FROM ALL GRADE PARENTS! Contact LORI SIEGAL, 215-715-8498
From the CHS PTO: To all Parents, especially those of freshman,
sophomores and juniors: Your help is needed for the Post Prom Party
(PPP) set-up and clean-up. The party cannot be done without strong
support from the whole school community.
Traditionally, the parents of the underclassmen assist because the
parents of seniors take time out to be home to see their children
leave for the prom. Set-up starts at 2:30 PM on Thursday, June 11 and
the clean-up needs to begin after 5 AM on Friday, June 12. We also
need parents to chaperon between midnight and 5 AM. And if you can’t
help the night of the Post Prom, we need volunteers for jobs during
the day on Thursday, such as picking up donated food from vendors.
Come one hour, two hours or the entire time! Many volunteers are needed.
COME OUT AND SEE WHAT THE PPP IS ALL ABOUT! The Post Prom Party has
been created by parents, every year since 1962, to give prom-goers a
magical and safe place to continue the celebration after the prom
itself. The lobby, student center and cafeteria at CHS are
transformed into a fantastic party with a secret theme, which is not
revealed until midnight on June 11th. Bring your camera, because you
will want to take pictures!
We provide food, games and a DJ for dancing where the graduating
seniors and their guests can safely party into the wee hours. Great
prizes will be awarded every 15 minutes! The PPP is open to ALL
SENIORS and their prom dates at NO CHARGE.
Please help Lori and all the others make this another special event
for our students.

There's Always Something Happening At...Your Local Library
For instance, we know there are many commuters out there who prefer
not to stress about traffic by instead listening to a good book or
lecture in the car or on the bus or train. Right now, Cheltenham
Libraries has opened up a survey seeking your interests and feedback
on their selection of audiobooks and other recorded works. You can
add your opinion to the mix by visiting their site at
www.cheltenhamlibraries.org and looking for the survey link.
And they haven't forgotten that these are tough times for many. If
you would like help with your resume, interviewing, or other job
search resources; you can find it at the library, too. Look for
information on their homepage.

Finally, let us not forget the many men and women who have dedicated
and too often sacrificed their lives for the comfort and security we
Americans have come to expect. As we conclude this Memorial Day, we
must not forget that every day is Memorial Day for some family who has
lost a son, daughter, father, mother, or other family member in
support of this great nation and what we, together, believe in. Be
proud and please be thankful.
Have a great week!
Sincerely,
United Parents Group of Cheltenham Township
