Dear Parents and Friends,
We hope that everyone had a good time at the Elementary School and EP Back-to-School nights this past week. If you attended and didn't get a flyer from UPG listing our meeting schedule, please reply and we'll get one to you. Upcoming are the CHS (24th) and Cedarbrook (30th) parent nights, too.
Just a few important notes to share this week.

UPG Meeting, October 1st, 7pm, Administration Building
We will welcome Mr. Chris Barone, Director of Information Technology, to our meeting for a presentation on his efforts. Many were present for his enthusiastic review in June, after only a month or so with the District, and we expect to hear much more about his accomplishments and vision for the coming months and years. Technology, as you know if you are reading this on something other than paper, has become an essential part of our District's plans and programs, and UPG welcomes all parents who are interested in this topic to join us on October 1st.
As a heads up, November's meeting will feature Director of Education, Sue Tischler.

Have You Signed Up For Your School's Email List?
Speaking of technology...Each school now has it's own distribution list for sharing news and information about programs and events. If you have not already done so, we URGE you to visit
www.cheltenham.org and look for "Email Listserv Signup" along the left side of the page. Once there you can enter up to 4 email addresses and select from the many distribution lists available. There are Emergency Information and District-wide distribution lists, as well. Principals and administrators are already making use of this new system and new lists are being added all the time. UPG encourages everyone to sign up and to be informed parents and members of the community.
==============================UPG Initiates New Parent-to-Parent (P2P) Discussions - 7:00pm, Admin Building, Tuesday, September 22nd
Based on your direct feedback, we know that many parents have questions about how things work in Cheltenham or where to find certain kinds of information. While we will generally point parents to their teachers for academic issues and to the school Principal or Guidance counselors for other issues, we also know that it often helps to talk one-to-one with another parent to help form the questions or just to help figure some things out. We also know that our regular meetings often don't allow enough time for these discussions, so we're going to try an additional approach.
Prior to each month's Educational Affairs (EA) meetings, typically the 4th Tuesday of each month, UPG (and anyone who would like to join in) will be available for group discussions and assistance, starting at 7pm. The EA meetings typically begin at 7:30pm, and all parents are welcome to attend. These Board committee meetings feature discussions and presentations that are typically of the greatest interest to parents.
If you or someone you know has a question and aren't quite sure where to begin, please come out on Tuesday at 7pm and we'll see if we can help. Everyone is welcome.
