UPG will be holding a workshop on new techniques for proactively
managing behavioral issues through positive reinforcement and student

on bullying and cyberbullying issues.

The first of our two-part workshop will introduce the key elements of
Restorative Practices (RP) with our guest Mr. Steve Korr. The second

and opportunities to discuss the techniques of RP.

Teen Parenting Videos Still Available on Channel 42

If you happened to miss our program on parenting for teens called
"Yes, Your Teen (or PreTeen) is Crazy", you may still view the video
rerun of the event. The program is being provided on cable channel 42
through March 30th at 8 & 11 pm with Judge Cerski's excellent
introduction at 7pm. These were excellent presentations by the judge,
Cass McGoff, and Dr. Michael Bradley and we invite you to view this,
if possible.

Planning Continues on Can You Dig It? Day

A meeting to finalize Can You Dig It? Day plans on Wednesday, April

away from the big event on April 19th, and spring break will be during
that time.

A flyer is attached. Have questions? Call Maureen Boland, 215-782-8742.

Parents and Friends,

Two quick notes this week.

============================
Career Day Professionals Needed

This is a late notice, so we apologize to Cedarbrook for not getting this out sooner.

Parents Add Value to Education is a theme of the UPG.  We're pleased that we can occasionally offer direct opportunities for parents to help make our schools great.

Right now, parents at all grade levels are needed to present career overviews to students at Cedarbrook Middle School on Monday, April 27th.  Cedarbrook is located at 300 Longfellow Avenue in Wyncote.

They are asking that Career Day professionals arrive No later than 12:45pm.  They will have a registration and a meet and greet.

You would provide two 45-minute presentations at 1:20 and 2:15, including time for questions, so please allow for that in your preparations.

The attire whatever is appropriate dress specific to your profession.

Please contact Cheree Atwood at cat...@cheltenham.org if you can help.

2nd Session of Restorative Practices -- You can still come!  Mark your Calendar.

Our first session of discussions on Restorative Practices (RP), with Steve Korr of the International Institute for Restorative Practices, was well attended, but we can still take more.  The first session covered an overview of RP and the 2nd session will delve further into the specific practices of RP.

Even if you missed the first session, Steve will be providing a brief overview of the RP approach and we urge you to come join with us as we explore its possibilities for home and school.

RP is both a powerful strategy for raising the level of performance and engagement of students as well as a simple technique that anyone can learn, including parents, for addressing and building on performance issues.  If you've ever wondered what to do in a "teachable moment", RP provides a clear set of strategies to help anyone in any situation build an environment of responsibility, respect, and individual achievement.

The next session will take place on Thursday, April 16th, at 7pm at the District Administration Building on Ashbourne Rd in Elkins Park.

Our flyer is attached.  Please RSVP if you can, especially if you would like childcare.
