Hey everybody,

We're having a pizza party outdoors at the community/farm site on April 1st, and you're all invited!  Stop by anytime between 3:00 PM and sundown (8:00 or so).  Bring some of your favorite pizza topics.  We'll be baking and hanging out.

Let's get a couple of things out of the way... We know that there is a nasty virus out there, but we are going to celebrate anyway!  Because we can.  Springtime is here.  We have been cooped up for the winter far too long for anyone's good health.  It is an absolute blessing to be able to gather (in this case outside).  Rules:
  • The virus is real but the pandemic may be in your mind until April 1st.
  • Do not come to this pizza party if you are feeling even a little bit ill.
  • Be respectful of others.  Keep your distance from those who would feel more comfortable that way.
  • Otherwise, wear a mask only if you want to.  I am exemplifying this "tin foil mask".  I have at least 15 of them on hand.  They can be worn over a conventional mask for that double-layer look.  They protect against more than just Covid; they also protect against mind-viruses.

Yeah, making a little fun out of a serious topic, because we need a lot of brightness.  Bring some brightness of your own too.

In addition to pizzas, we may like to plant some cuttings from berry bushes in the Edible Park area.  We also have 5 apple trees and 5 pear trees to plant.  Maybe some other things -- TBD.  But if there is any "work", let it be light work and lighthearted.

The weather forecast changes every day.  Right now they are saying partly cloudy with a high of 53 degrees.  Pretty good.

How fitting, the weather is playing April Fools on us... Over the past week, the forecast took a dramatic turn for the colder side.  Now it's supposed to be in the 30's on Thursday.

But... The pizza party is not a joke.  It's really happening.  Well, in a way it is a joke, but it's a real joke.

Here's the latest.  We touched up the earth oven on Sunday.

Clearly the photo on the right is the new photo.  Ready to go!

*** We have a metal fire ring and we will have a camp fire in addition to the warmth of the earth oven. ***

As for the pizza itself, I am really happy to announce for your eating pleasure:
  • Pizza dough from Nick Raterman (of Raterman Traditional Sourdough).  Check out Nick's bread, too, next time you visit the farmers market or Agricole on the weekend.  It is the best!
  • Mozzarella cheese from Fluffy Bottom.  Check our all the Fluffy Bottom cheeses in the store or market too.
  • (Possibly shiitake mushrooms from the logs under the tree nearby the earth oven?)  On Sunday there was no flush of mushrooms yet, but you never know.
*** Please do bring your own pizza toppings!  Whatever you like to put on your pizza.  ***

And anything else you would like to bring (within reason).  I'll have some Gatorade.

I picked up the 5 apple and 5 pear root-stock yesterday for planting.  We will also have elderberry cuttings, concord grape cuttings, etc.  But the point isn't about work; this is not a lot of plants we are talking about anyway.

Let's push really hard and push that temperature up, up, up just a little bit more!

Patrick
