They continue to have these solar stories every Thursday night, and -- look here -- our own John Gourlay from Chelsea is featured tonight!  Learn more about John's solar power system and how he designed it the to balance the benefits of net metering with the need for resilience when there are power outages.

Subject: MI Solar Story

MI Solar Story is a series of presentations on Zoom that will be held every Thursday from 7:00-7:40 pm.  Each week a solar owner will talk about his/her experience with solar power.  A 20 minute presentation will be followed by 20 minutes for Q&A.  The eighth presentation will be on Thursday, June 18, 7:00-7:40 pm.  John Gourlay has a 4.5 kW grid-tied solar energy system with battery backup north of Chelsea. The solar panel array is on a fixed ground mount near the house, and the electronics and batteries are in the basement, all installed in 2018. John lives in an area with unreliable electric utility power, and so the battery backup was a primary factor in the design of the system.
