Hello historians!
We are trying to help a patron track down materials about psychologist William David Smith (1934-1981). Has anyone come across archival materials related to him or does anyone have any further information about him?
What we know:
He was the first editor of the Journal of Black Psychology, an early member of ABPSi, and was the first director of the Department of African and African American Studies at the University of Cincinnati in 1970 (now known as the Department of Africana Studies. Smith does not have a biographical profile in Robert L. Williams' History of ABPSi book (likely since he died so young and Williams' sent questionnaires for the psychologists profiled in his book).
The patron already has Smith's published works and is most interested in first-hand accounts or recordings of any kind - film or audio. If anyone has any leads, we'd be grateful!
Thanks in advance from Lizette and I for any leads!
Cathy
