"I use a USB flash drive as a backup device to store the crucial files and documents. This morning when I inserted the flash drive into my laptop and tried to open a file, to my huge surprise, all of my files in it turned into shortcuts with the same names as I saved earlier. I can't open any of the shortcut files. Does anyone know how to convert shortcut files into the original file? I need to recover the shortcut files."
Files turning into shortcuts is a common problem that happens to almost all of us. The error usually results from a virus, trojan, or worm that can infect your USB flash drive, Pen drive, micro SD card, external drive, etc. What the virus often does is hiding your files and folders and turning them into shortcuts in small size. And files getting deleted by the virus also exits.
This video shows how to recover or get back your files that have been infected by the shortcuts files from hard drives, USB Flash Drives, memory cards, and your pen drives. When you have completed all these steps, refresh your pen drive and you can check for your files on the pen drive. Now you can easily find all your files.
If the above two ways can't show the hidden files or the original files have been deleted already, you can use EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard to help you recover shortcut files successfully. This comprehensive file recovery software can recover data within three steps. The supported files are graphics, videos, audios, documents, emails, ZIP, RAR, as well as other 200+ data types.
EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard will immediately start a scan process to find your deleted or hidden files on the virus infected hard drive. To quickly locate the wanted files, you can use the Filter or search box feature to display only the pictures, videos, documents, emails, etc.
When the process finishes, you can preview the scanned files. Select the files you want and click the "Recover" button. You should save restored files to another secure location or Cloud drive, not where they were lost.
Manual execution of the command line is suitable for computer professionals, since incorrect commands can do more harm than good. Therefore, for security and usability, we strongly recommend you try an automatic command line alternative - EaseUS CleanGenius. It is a practical tool that enables you to check and fix file system errors, enable/disable write protection and update your system with one-click instead of typing intricate command lines.
If these two solutions don't work, it's possible that the virus/malware has deleted your files. In this way, you need to use a reliable EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard tool to help you recover the deleted files.
Why do my folders turn into shortcuts? Shortcut virus is a triggered issue. Once your device gets connected to the shortcuts virus, its malware will creep into your PC, USB pen drive, memory card, or other removable storage devices. And then it will immediately create a shortcut for your folders with the same names, hiding the real folder and files.

I have a million photos in my directory tree of photos. Recently, I created another directory of shortcuts to select a set of photos I want to use. I used special shortcut filenames setup to sort the photos in the order I want.
The problem is, when I import the directory of photo shortcuts into Adobe Lightroom, Lightroom uses the underlying filenames, not the shortcut names. This loses the shortcut names I wanted to sort by.
Help! I'm new to Vectorworks and have been appreciating how customizable the workspace is. I recently changed the keyboard shortcut for Duplicate Array in the Workspace Editor to something simpler than Ctrl+Shift+Alt+D (changed it to Shift+D). Trouble is, now I want to change it back and the drop down menu does not have the option to use the Command key as part of the sequence of keys, so I'm unable to restore the original shortcut. There are the choices for Shift+key, Alt+key and Shift+Alt+key. I'm working on a Mac, not my own.
I've done some internet searching and have realized I should have created a duplicate workspace to do all of my customizations with...Given that I haven't done that, if I now revert my whole workspace back to the default, I'll lose all of the other good efficiencies I've given the workspace. I'm on the clock so I don't want to spend time re-creating my changes just to get one tool back to the original keyboard shortcut. How do I change the one Duplicate Array shortcut back to the original??? Is there a way to add the abilty to use the Ctrl+Shift+Alt as a choice in the Worksapce Editor in order to re-assign the old keyboard short cut back to the tool??
Menu Command always require the use of the Command Key so you don't have to specify it. Just set the shortcut in the Workspace Editor to Ctrl-Shft-Alt and D. The Command will be automatically included.
We understand that in some cases, having all shortcuts automatically deleted at the same time would be preferable. But overall we believe that such a product behavior would lead to more confusion when collaborating with others. E.g. not knowing what happened to a file or shortcut as it suddenly disappears.
As @remyburger explained, the shortcuts will still exist. To me, personally, this makes a lot of sense, as it's exactly how Windows shortcuts and macOS aliases work, so it should be pretty consistent and familiar for most folks...
It's still a shortcut, pointing to a file/folder that no longer exists. It's not a copy of the original item. It never was. It's just a symbolic link (that no longer works when the target item gets deleted).
The shortcut would now have a trash can icon on it. If you select the shortcut it will take you to the file in the trash. If the file has been deleted from the trash nothing happens when you select the shortcut.
I understand keeping the shortcut so people know that it's been deleted. However, what I don't understand is why I can't delete the shortcut. I now have a dead link in my folder that leads to nothing but more confusion for the other participants. A simple option of deleting the shortcut would make sense. If I'm missing something, I would be grateful for any help.
If there is a shortcut that points to something that no longer exists, is there a way to see where it was pointing to? We had a disgruntled staff member delete several things and no one knows where the original file was actually saved, they just used the shortcut.

I am freaking out because my folders became shortcuts in my external HD and flash drive. The original files are hidden and they become shortcuts. Furthermore, I often encounter an error message with "maoyoad.exe" & "maoyoadx.exe". I already submitted these files to MMPC and still waiting for the definition files.
