In any case, the problem of redundancy persisted. In about:preferences#privacy, I found that Firefox offered built-in solutions to some of the problems addressed by extensions. For instance, in the Browser Privacy section, Firefox said that its Standard setting blocked social media trackers, cross-site tracking cookies, and (in private windows) all cross-site cookies and tracking content. A bit further down, it offered options to delete cookies and clear history when Firefox closed. So why was Mozilla recommending extensions that Firefox was already designed to address?
