Apple Music's lyrics experience is consistently one of the most popular features on our service," Oliver Schusser, Apple's vice president of Apple Music and Beats, said in a release. And that's it. There's no official support for microphones or even recording your efforts -- yet. However, we'll update this once the Apple TV version drops. Will Apple TV support the Siri remote? Or a Bluetooth headset? Who knows? Apple did not respond immediately to CNET's request for comment.

How does it work? Basically, lead vocals are usually mixed to the center so they're easy to remove with most modern audio software. But there is definitely more to it than that, as songs with vocals in left, center and right positions such as Dinosaur Jr.'s Feel the Pain also worked in our tests.

Apple Music Sing is another compelling feature for the service, which boasts over 90 million tracks, plus Dolby Atmos and lossless music. Competitor Spotify has 80 million songs but doesn't have lossless music yet.

So, how can I do this? Basically I am listening from a microphone to what note the user is singing and playing the music, so think if it as karaoke on the phone. I just need to see how to play the music so the user can hear it.

In Apple Music, tap the Search icon, bottom right, then tap Sing. This bit is optional, as you can still view the lyrics to plenty of songs without this step. However, doing this filters to the songs which have Sing enabled and give you the extra features like vocal track adjustment.

Now adjust the volume slider downward. Adjusting down will reduce the vocal track volume of the song, so your voice will be louder. Notice that if the song is a duet, the different sets of lyrics are on different sides of the screen.

Spotify's karaoke mode is relatively simple compared to Apple Music Sing, but it still offers you the fundamentals of what you need to sing along: scrolling lyrics! Spotify did introduce a limited karaoke mode a while back which would rate your singing, but it hasn't gone anywhere and wasn't available on any of the songs we tried.
