How do you create a recurring task with the API?

Is it possible to create a recurring task with the API? Looking at the JSON for a recurring task didn’t give me enough information to do this.

I am writing a command-line interface to Checkvist since I spend a lot of my time in a terminal. It would be nice to be able to add a recurring task without logging into the web interface.
For more background I am totally blind. While I have found several accessible task list programs for the iphone none of these programs offer cross platform support with a command-line client. The Checkvist mobile website is quite accessible on my iphone. Given this and the fact that the API looked simple to use I decided to write my own command-line client for use on my computer and to create a shortcut on my home screen directly to the mobile site on my iphone.
