Ikeep getting a fail to initialize error message for Smart Audio, how do I fix or remove this, I can't find a Smart Audio application and I have run the audio diagnostic several times and it says that everything is functioning properly. Any advice?

Thank you very much for your assistance, I followed your advice and used the first option from the fix and after the reboot the error changed from failed to initialize and said it could not find a Conexant application and I had an "x" on my speaker icon. Crazy system, why would it try to initialize something that is not even there and then say it can't find it and will close. I reversed the disabled audio choices from within device manager and reenabled them and my sound came back and the "x" is gone. Hopefully I won't see the error message again when I reboot or I'm calling HP to complain because this is a brand new system that I had built by them. First they forgot to lock the bios and now a mystery application that does not exist. Ridiculous! but thank you for helping me.

I had so much hope, LOL, but unfortunately the crazy message is back! Smart Audio Failed to initialize .... I'm contacting HP to resolve this because I am not driving myself crazy trying to fix mystery applications!

@andyp1per Yes, it is on the tx pin of the uart. It is partially working As I can adjust the power from 200mw to 800mw. Plus the same set up used to work on Inav with the full functional of smart audio.

This is likely to be down to the implementation of your VTX and differences with TBS kit. The power settings are fairly approximate right now - at some point I plan to implement the proper SA 2.1 power levels, but that was too much work to include in 4.1

I set a 3 pos switch on the RC channel to toggle the power level but I can only toggle 2 power levels instead of 4 that the VTX has, even those two power levels need some toggling of the switch to work and not very repeatable.

I expect Intel will give me the run around and say contact the computer manufacturer though it really is an Intel issue with how Intel has developed the Smart Sound Technology software. The computer manufacturer has to live with Intel design choices.

I am with a company that has developed sensor products that use the USB Class 1 audio protocol. The products return vibration data instead of audio data but show up a USB microphones as far as Windows is concerned. I have to try to provide support to customers of our products to try to get them to work. So this issue will occur across all computer manufacturers.

Unfortunately, some computers have added Smart Sound Technology for USB Audio that inserts itself in front of the standard microsoft audio drivers that work well with our device. The first symptom is apparently disabling support for 24 bit audio. Second symptom is not working with the Windows kernel streaming audio interface causing application to fail.

The Intel SST driver is wrapped by the audio codec driver and then provided to the OEM, therefore, there is no support from Intel Customer Support. To find out if Intel SST can be disabled in your USB device, our best recommendation is to contact the OEM for further assistance.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to disable Smart Sound Technology for a specific USB audio device. Smart Sound Technology is a system-level feature that is designed to improve the audio quality of devices that support it. Disabling it would affect all devices that use it, not just your USB audio device.

However, you may be able to work around the issue by using a different audio interface for your sensor products. You could try using an external audio interface that does not rely on Smart Sound Technology, or a different USB port on your computer that does not have Smart Sound Technology enabled.

We use a Poly Trio 8800 via USB with the current Version of the Webex Meetings app. The microphone volume and clearness is quite low, independent of the audio modes (Noise removal, Optimize for my voice, Music mode). This is in the audio test mode as well as for the audience.

When using the browser instead of the app the microphones signal is much clearer. The only explanation is, that there is a microphone filtering mechanism, even in the Music mode. Is it possible to disable this filtering?

I am having this same issue with the embedded microphone on my laptop (windows). This issue does not happen with my non-embedded microphone. Why is there no option to disable smart audio? Is Cisco even actively looking at fixing this?

While I really enjoy the voice and sound enhancement features, I would prefer to be able to disable them for longer meetings, too. The noise can get intense over time and the headset notifications volume does not get adjusted to the system volume. But most likely this is not possible. Hopefully there will be a disable function some day.

Those are the only three modes that are available and I don't think there is any option to disable Webex Smart Audio. You can try disabling "Automatically adjust volume" settings and see if it makes any difference.

I continue to have trouble with a "pop" sound every time I start playing a video (youtube, etc.), anytime that I change the volume, and also during most Windows alerts. It's driving me up a wall. It also happens any time that I skip to a different point in a video (youtube, etc.).

I RIGHT click on it and choose "Disable Device". As soon as I do that, NO MORE POPPING SOUNDS. However, the audio is not quite as rich (it's good sound, but not as good as when it is enabled--but the popping sound just drives me nuts).

Thanks Xavier! Tell your boss to give you a raise. Your solution worked great. In the past I have always used the generic drivers from Intel (since they are updated much more frequently than the HP drivers)---turn out that's not a good idea with this computer.

2. Go the Device Manger, RIGHT click on HD 620 under display drivers and choose "uninstall", then in the box that pops up put a check in the box for "delete all drivers for this device". If you get a message that you're about to install drivers older than the current drivers, choose YES/install/OK. Whenit's finished and it asks to reboot, choose LATER.

3. Still in Device Manager, under System Devices, RIGHT click on Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R( SST) Audio Controller and choose "uninstall", then in the box that pops up put a check in the box for "delete all drivers for this device".
