I am Umesh Deshmukh, a final-year Computer Science student at Technocrats Institute of Technology (TIT), Bhopal. I am writing to introduce myself to the community and express my strong interest in contributing to Checkstyle as part of GSoC 2026.

Technical Background: I am a Java developer with a deep interest in software quality and static analysis. My technical profile includes:

• Java Expertise: Proficient in Core/Advanced Java and Spring Boot.

• Competitive Programming: Solved 225+ problems on LeetCode, which has helped me build strong algorithmic and logic-building skills. LeetCode Profile

• Full-Stack Development: Developed RydZo (Bike Rental) and MyNewHome (Real Estate platform) using Java Full-Stack and MERN technologies.

Open Source Experience: I have prior experience in the static analysis domain through my contributions to OWASP Dependency-Check. I have successfully merged PRs focused on resolving vulnerability mappings and fixing complex False Positives (FPs):

• PR #8218: fix: map CVE-2024-51111 to solace-messaging-client

• PR #8200: fix: resolve FP for CVE-2024-41147 in solace-messaging-client

GSoC 2026 Interest: I am particularly drawn to the following project ideas:

1. Markdown Javadoc Support (JEP 467)

2. Implementation of auto-fix Recipes

My work with OWASP has inspired me to dive deeper into AST parsing and Java internals to understand how code quality and security policies are enforced at scale.

Current Progress: I have successfully set up the Checkstyle environment locally using JDK 21 and verified the build with ./mvnw install. I am now eager to start tackling technical bugs and false-positive issues in the Checkstyle repository to demonstrate my skills and gain a deeper understanding of the codebase before drafting my formal proposal.

I am looking forward to learning from the community and making meaningful contributions.
