GSOC 2026 Contribution

Hi everyone,

My name is Ahmed Khairi, a CS sophomore. I'm interested in contributing to Checkstyle for GSoC 2026, specifically the "Reconcile formatters of Eclipse, NetBeans and IntelliJ IDEA by Checkstyle config" project.

I find this project particularly interesting because I have hands-on experience with all three IDEs. Eclipse, NetBeans, and IntelliJ. I've personally experienced the formatting conflicts this project aims to solve.

My background includes Java, C++ and SQL. I have experience building multi-module Java applications and I'm comfortable with Git and Maven.

I'd like to start contributing before the application period opens. Could you point me to a good first issue to work on, and is there a contribution guide I should follow?
