Dear All,
Tomorrow ACT UP Boston will be hosting a town hall meeting at the Community Church of Boston on Boylston Street at 7 pm. We will informing people about the devastating budget cuts that will happen to AIDS services in Massachusetts and around the country. These budget cuts are GOING to happen on January 2, 2013 unless politicians do stop the cuts from happening.
While we are confident that in Massachusetts people's medicines will not be cut an that co-pays will not increase, this comes at the cost of other programs we care about. We expect that these cuts will make housing waiting lists longer, that there will be fewer meals for people living with HIV, and that substance abuse programs will be more difficult to get into. We expect there to be fewer HIV case managers and community health workers, less emergency shelters for people without homes. We expect that services like dental care will be put on the chopping block. Things are already bad, but these cuts will make things even worse.
But we can prevent these cuts from happening! We are inviting everyone to join ACT UP to fight back against these cuts. We can stop the cuts if we make our voices heard to our politicians. We are inviting you to join the fight by coming to our town hall meeting tomorrow at 7 pm. Thank you,
Krishna Prabhu
