Summer Reading Fun!

Teen Summer Reading

Our teen summer reading program begins next week.  Teens can read a book, write a short review and enter it into a drawing for a fantastic prize.  Weekly drawings will be held.  Watch out for special teen events during the summer.

Adult summer Reading Program

We are repeating last year's popular reading bingo.  Read an assortment of different types of books and enter a drawing.  This is a great excuse to read something totally new!

Make a Splash! Read

We have over 500 kids signed up for the summer reading program already and are looking for more.  Come on in, the Reading's fine!  Kids can sign up, receive a reading log and some activity sheets, and start reading.  Complete the reading log and return for a free book!  Be sure to pick up a list of fun summer events when you are at the library.

Culture and museum passes available

We have passes available to a variety of events and attractions around the region.  You must come into the library to check out the passes and exchange them for free tickets. We just recently received passes for the Dorothy Molter Museum in Ely and the Minnesota Discovery Center in Chisholm.

Search for them in the catalog using "Museum Pass" as a keyword in the title field.

Spare books, anyone?

We are now accepting donations of books for the annual GIGANTIC book sale to be held during Tall Timber Days.  Bring books, CDs, DVDs  audiobooks, or puzzles to the library until August 1st

Spare time?

We need volunteers for sorting books in advance of the sale (July), set up before the sale, help during the sale, and for packing up after the sale. Contact  Susan Hayes at 999-5806  if you can spare a couple of hours for a shift before, during or after the sale.

For more details on any of the programs, go to the Library’s Web Site: www.grandrapids.lib.mn.us  You can also find a calendar on the left side of the page.   Click on “Calendar” for a link to the complete list of events at the library.
