I've various disks with issues, I'm trying to isolate their bad sectors, but I don't know how. I've read many guides which essentially go like this;
1) Run 'smartctl -t short/long /dev/sdX' to find LBA_of_first_error values.
2) Translate this value from hexadecimal to decimal.
3) Locate these sectors inside the partitions.
4) Fill these sectors with 'dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdXY seek=$sector.
5) Run 'smartctl -t short/long /dev/sdX' again to find if there are other errors and if those sectors have been "cut out" of the partitions.

You probably want 'dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdd bs=512 count=1 seek=110120431'. The number might be off by one sector but it should be something like that. As far as I know smartctl will report the first lba with errors in decimal form not hexadecimal.

My main reference is the wiki for smartmontools, the toolset containing smartctl, I can't think about anything better.
I'm following the archwiki for finding badblocks, but it's awfully slow, even on a laptop via USB it took 105 or 170 hours, I don't remember.

1) I've 3 faulty drives and my goal is to make them usable for non-critical files (download folder for torrentbox, data scrapyard, steam/music/movies holder).
Now I'm trying to make non-usable the bad sector on this WD 320GB, but following the smartmontools wiki instruction I'm failing.

Your smartctl test error is likely the result of using a USB adapter. Many external drive adapters are not supported. However, they are sometimes easy to disassemble, so if you can take the enclosure apart (without wrecking it) you could remove the HDD and plug it to a motherboard SATA port. If it looks too difficult, use the model number to find a tutorial, or simply don't bother.

Same here. Nearly all new (since more or less two weeks) installed products miss those thumbnails in smart content. I first installed as usual with DIM, than uninstalled in the smart content tab and the installed again. Also updated meta data, but nothing so far fixed this.

Now I have tried all three ways known to me to install and uninstall content. I used DIM, Connect and also DazCentral and uninstalled and installed the newer content again and again... Still the same mess with the missing thumbnails.

Seems that the metadata server is borked. It is all (rather) fine with only some of the thumbnails missing if you stay offline with DAZ Studio. Once you log in, the thumbnais start disappearing. It is not the thumbnails as such, it is the database entries that get messed up. I did a restore from my CMS folder backup and the thumbnails were back again.

Maybe I understood it wrong, but isn't it that you have to copy, rename and paste some jpg in different folders for EACH product? With more than 100 products with missing thumbnails I wouldn't call that easy and painless.

Yes, that's basically what you need to do. However, the renamed jpg's are going into the same folder (the one called Meta in the cloud folder). But essentially, yes you have to copy one jpg from the folder of each product that are missing a thumbnail, and than rename that one before moving it to the Meta folder. I started with copying the jpg's from each product folder, than got some coffee and sat down to rename them. Before moving them over to the Meta folder at the same time.

My pc froze and I had to turn it off via button When I turn it on i get smart disk error and cannot start the pc Is there any way to bypass this screen so I can log back into my computer and copy my data to an external drive

I've imported form 1099 b from Morgan Stanley, it required review. I went over all RSU sales and entered missing information: Quality (box 1a) as number of shares sold, Cost or other basis (box 1e). On "Enter vesting or release) information" i only entered "Date vested/released" same as acquired.

Because solution layers are so important many errors or unexpected behavior can arise due to changes in layering. This error can happen when the MX record for your hybrid domain points to Exchange Online, and the connector that's used to route email from Exchange Online to your on-premises Exchange organization is configured to use DNS routing instead of smart host routing.

To fix the problem, configure a dedicated connector to be used for hybrid. This connector will use smart host routing and will have your on-premises hybrid server configured as a smart host. The easiest way to fix the problem is to rerun the Hybrid Configuration Wizard in your on-premises Exchange organization. Or, you can verify the configuration of the connector that's used for hybrid by following these steps:

It should be understood that using such a drive should not imply that any important information is stored on it. Knowing this, you can reset smart settings to help mask annoying errors.
