My previous lighting was bulky units affixed to the bottom of my cabinets with very bright -- and hot -- halogen like light bulbs. The bulbs were a pain to replace when they went out and definitely added heat to the kitchen where it wasn't needed. In addition there were a couple of areas where I didn't get very good lighting and didn't have room to mount another light.

Arrive Inspired LED! This is actually my second attempt, my first attempt I bought the pre-cut strips and didn't pay close attention to their catalog where they listed Super Bright versus Ultra Bright and Ultra Bright was the appropriate for task lighting. Pay attention to what you want to use these for in order to get the right units (as usual Amazon was no issue to do a return).

First don't be alarmed when you get the box. It looks so small! The DIY strip is truly a very small reel --- yet I was able to easily do my whole kitchen. Second note that there are few "tiger claw connectors", I caught this up front and emailed Inspired (by the way they answer reeaaaallllyy quickly - amazing support) and got the part number to order some additional connectors at the same time as main order came in (as well as a few connectors too).

Second -- it's easy. It's almost so easy that you think you're doing something wrong. You can measure if you want but I found it easy enough to stretch the light-wire, figure out the distance by eye and then cut it at the marked cut spots. Remember to leave room for the tiger claw AND the wire that comes off of this (e.g. if you're really trying to use every inch of space you need to leave some room to unplug / plug in the connectors).

Third as you're attaching the tiger claws I've found that the removal of sticky tape cover almost always caused the claw to come misaligned. So my recommendation is measure, cut, connect the claws, strip off the tape AND THEN TEST before you mount (if you mount it and then find out the tiger claw isn't attached right you need to pull the sticky tape off of whatever you've mounted it too and re-attach which is just a little messy, if you test first you'll be happier).

Last I'd order the dimmer (LED 4-Position Dimmer Switch). These suckers ARE bright. Actually they're just about perfect task lighting, but in the dimmed position they're really cool for just "scene lighting" -- take advantage of the fact these are dimmable, they look entirely cool).

I haven't had these up long enough to say if the LEDs last forever or not, they seem easy enough to mount and they stuck well even though my cabinet undersides don't have the best surface for mounting anything -- I do wish they had some other "clear" mounting strip that could be screwed to hold the LED strip up with -- I haven't needed it yet but I have one spot on my cabinet where the surface was so bad I suspect the LEDs will loosen).

All in all, this is one of the best lighting products I've ever used and I'm looking forward to both better task lighting, lower electric bill and less heat in my kitchen.
