I had the privilege of auditioning this for Vine, but had I paid $250+ for this - I would have returned it. Please let me explain. It's not a bad faucet by any means, but it doesn't live up to the price tag to me, _especially_ when compared against the Moen Arbor design that costs less. That, and it does not come with the base plate to cover two adjoining holes, even though Amazon and Moen (on their website) show pictures with it on that plate. I need that plate on my sink, so it's a deal breaker for me.

In the past year, I've gotten four modern Moen kitchen faucets: Arbor in Spot Resistant Stainless that I bought last October, then the Arbor With Motionsense in Chrome in December, and the Extensa in Chrome this past May, and then this one. Prior to that, I had a Moen faucet for 12 years that came with my house.

I splurged (IMO) and paid $240 for the first Arbor. A lot of money, but when I opened the box, I was blown away by the quality and absolutely felt like I got my money's worth. The metal parts were protected with a plastic overwrap, and everything was spotless. Fit and finish were awesome. I had zero regrets and loved the faucet. Next, I was able to try the Arbor with Motionsense from Vine, and was once again just thrilled by the careful packaging and quality of the product. I've used that faucet now for nine months and still love it. I was also able to try the Extensa model, which also came carefully packaged and is a quality faucet (but not my choice of style, and the plastic part of the spout is large and more distracting to me).

In contrast, my first impression of this model was not as favorable. Upon excitedly opening the box, I immediately noticed that the metal parts were not sheathed in plastic but rather allowed to rub against the internal plastic shell and interior of the cardboard cover. There were also numerous finger prints on the faucet (unlike any of my others). Okay, fine, I can clean it up, but it just left a bad impression for me. That said, everything was in its proper place in the box. More importantly, though, the handle seems mounted off-center. Maybe it's how it should be, but it definitely seems wrong to me (shown in the video). Plus, I was really surprised upon opening the box to find that the base plate to cover the two nearby holes in the sink wasn't there. I honestly thought that I had gotten a returned item (no wrappers, fingerprints, and what I thought was a missing piece) until I read other reviews from people that said that theirs also didn't come with the plate.

However, maybe I got a bad one (and if it wasn't from Vine, I could always have asked Amazon for an exchange). I don't want to knock down the model if I got a bad example, but there are other things that I prefer on the Arbor. The Arbor has a wider spray, but the Align's spray is narrow and very similar to the stream. In addition, the button on the Align that changes from stream to spray can only do that one thing - stream to spray. To turn the spray function off, you have to turn the water off and then back on. The Arbor can click between the two settings and even lets you hold in the button to temporarily turn the water off at the spout. I think that the narrowness of the spout on the Align probably forced them to a simpler button, but I really like the extra capability on the Arbor.

So, I'll still give the Align three stars ("It's OK") because it's definitely nicer than the 12-year-old Moen that I replaced last Fall. Moen has done a real nice job with their chrome finish that makes it easy to clean up, and it's not like this faucet is bad. The construction approach is like that of the Arbor, which I'm happy with. The overall fit and finish is quite good. The off-center handle (IMO) bothers me, but that might be limited to my faucet. However, given the inability to turn off the spray without turning off the water flow and the lack of the base plate, though, I definitely don't think it is worth the current price of over $265. To me, the Arbor was nicer in person than in the pictures, whereas this wasn't. I recommend Moen (especially the Arbor), but just not this model at this price.
