I was a bit leary about these speakers since they were an off brand and I could not try them out but I bought them two years ago because the price was right. They are my third set of speakers. I wanted to go from passive to active. I really love these speakers! I do some small venue DJ work and these guys can really perform. Some places I do not even use a sub-woofer. I recently did an after work party at a hair salon. They pumped so much bass I had to turn it down. They were rattling their hair products off the shelves. One of my favorite things is doing small birthday parties for family and friends. I take one of these speakers, the stand and my MP3 player. That's all it takes. I can even hook a mic to it if needed. With the passive speakers I had to drag the amp and all. They are completely self powered and self reliant. If anything ever happens to my speakers I will definitely buy them again. They are in a heavy duty plastic housing with a built-in handle that's very convenient. They feel very solid and well built. The one thing I am not crazy about is the knobs are not inset and it has a cooling block on it for the amp that sticks out. I think the knobs could be easily broken off. You have to be careful not to bang it or scrape yourself on those fins.
