Hello,

I've got this charger, and its different from the normal M0517 charger. It has 80W: max 6A charge, and max. 2A discharge rate.
But there are two issues with cheali firmware. At first the 2nd balance pin isnt working - i dont know why, with orig. firmware balancing wasnt a problem. Now calibration is only possible at first balance pin and battery packs wouldn't charge, because they are recognized correctly.
Charging and discharging rate are now limited to 5A and 1A.
The original Nuvoton firmware has a nice feature. It's possible to change discharging rate on the fly (while the battery is discharged).
I would like to make a picture from the M0517, but its not possible to remove the LCD.

Hopefully this charger will be fully supported - the project is great.

please try the: cheali-charger-imaxB6-80W_1.00-20150718_nuvoton-M0517.hex (.bin) firmware.

The original Nuvoton firmware has a nice feature. It's possible to change discharging rate on the fly (while the battery is discharged).

unfortunately this is not implemented,
although if I'm not mistaken Igons fork is supporting something similar.

Best Regards,
Paweł

This looks interesting - can you share with us the source where you got this charger from?

I have the same charger. I bought here: http://ru.aliexpress.com/item/RC-Battery-charger-iMAX-B6-Digital-RC-AC-Lipo-Li-polymer-Battery-Balance-Charger-Worldwide-Store/32241179866.html
I update the firmware. cheali-charger-imaxB6-80W_1.00-20150718_nuvoton-M0517.hex

Thanks. The Aliexpress listing says 5W discharge, do you think that is accurate? The other fake B6's with 2A discharge have been 10W discharge.

2A / 10W discharge in the description.
The best ist, thats on of the cheapest b6 clone on ebay.

hm.. pod linuxem ja to robię tak:
 $ openocd -f interface/stlink-v2.cfg -f target/m051.cfg -c 'init; dump_image aprom.bin 0x0 0x10000; dump_image flash_data.bin 0x1f000 0x1000; shutdown '

chodzi o to by zgrać 4096B pamięci z pod adresu: 0x1f000
tam jest eeprom

Thanks - ordered one from the same seller. One way to tell this apart from the other 80W/10W B6 clones (which have unidentifiable CPU and can't be flashed) is this one seems to have buttons that stand a little taller from the case, and are less rounded. Otherwise markings and everything else appears 100% identical.

Thanks,
Morten

PS. If you could stick to English for the ST-Link flashing instructions that would be very much appreciated too ;-)

witam,

w załączniku dump eeproma.

@Morten
we discussed how to read the eeprom out of the m0517 chip. A working flashing tutorial you can find here: https://github.com/stawel/cheali-charger/blob/master/docs/Flashing%20m0517.doc

In my quest for a Nuvoton MCU I realised the units on eBay/Ali/DX had different back covers (see pics) i.e. rubber pad positioning. Can anyone confirm if there is a correlation between back cover and MCU?
